Hi,

Just wondering if anyone had any ideas on my problem - it's probably nothing, but it's inconveniencing me slightly - but don't like to bother the doctor for something not important.

I'm a 16-year old male, and over the past few months have had some funny things going on with my head...every now and then (maybe once a day), I'll suddenly feel every light-headed and dizzy, and have recently felt a very warm sensation down the left hand side of my face that accompanies blindness in my left eye. I always have to sit down to clear it, but it's usually passed within a minute. That's why I'm assuming it not to be very serious - but it's been happening more frequently lately. I use 'light-headed' because it's the only word I can really use to describe it - my head almost feels clammy and 'blocked up'...

I'm a little confused, because nothing like this has happened before these last few months - and I really don't know quite what to make of it. Oh, and it doesn't just happen when I get up quickly...it seems to happen at different points in the day all of the time...peculiar!

Any help would be much appreciated with this - as I say, I don't know whether to just shake it off or to be worried.

Thanks for your help - if you need any more details, just post here,

This does not sound normal, please see a doctor and get checked out. I could be something simple, but, it also could be symptoms of something serious.

Thanks for the help Misty - if you really do think it's serious enough to warrant a trip to the doctor, I'll try to get booked in tomorrow. I'd really just like to know if anyone had any idea what this could be though...I've seen similar symptoms described with anxiety or panic attacks, but, well, I don't think I have those ;)

I'm still just a little reluctant to go to my doctor - he once tried to tell me a knee problem I had was 'growing pains' - it resulted in surgery...needless to say he treats 'children' coming to him with 'made up problems' [as he once called them whilst making air quotes] with more than a little disdain ;)

It'd just be nice to go with some idea of what to expect from if it requires a little 'force' to get him to take me seriously. (This is probably a predominantly American forum, so I expect some comments like 'get another GP!' - but this is England, and most of us still have to put up with a failing National Health Service where getting another doctor is like [insert comical wit here...])

Sorry if I've made him out to be a bit of an ogre - I'm sure he's a lovely man really....but, well, yes.

Any guidance - however vague - would be greatly appreciated,

I don't really know. Blood pressure changing rapidly would do this - getting up too fast or sitting down to quickly. Other than that I have no idea

take care

Ear infection? Just a thought. Migraine? Another thought.
Take care, and please let us know what you find out!

I'm with trg...orthostatic hypotension. To check it regularly, buy a BP tester.

BUT, there's a possibility of TIA (transient ischemic attack <like a mini stroke>) causing symptoms like this and this needs looking into.

It's a shame you are stuck with Dr. Nincompooop.
