I have been diagnosed with GERD, and am presently treating it with 150mg of ranitidine daily. About 8 mos ago I started experiencing hot flashes--I am a 31 year old healthy male, so its likely not menopause (!). I have seen an endocrinologist, and he has not been able to find anything.

They last a couple seconds, and sometime I get 10-15 a day and other days nothing.

Has anyone ever heard of hotflashes as a result/side effect of GERD or ranitidine? Or any other ideas? Thanks!

Hi, I'm a female, past menopause, and I too get hot flashes and I was wondering if its the medication. I was taking the same med as you are. I have noticed that when I take it, I get hot flashes and then become chilled. Mine isn't a hormonal thing either because I have noted that I get this after I have taken rantidine a/k/a Zantac. I searched sites to see if this was a side effect but came up emptyhanded.
