I constantly bite the inside of my mouth. There are pictures of me doing it since I was a little kid, but I didn't start digging in hard until I started high school. Back then, it was a spot above my left canine. In the past few years, it's been the space between my bottom six frontmost teeth, and I can't quit. I wait for it to heal enough not to hurt, and then I bite the scar back off. Even if I don't have a part that's bothering me, I'll still bite off the top layer of the sides of my tongue or the parts of the insides of my mouth that've healed superficially, and I don't even notice I'm doing it until my husband tells me to quit it. Have any of you stopped this kind of behavior, and can you tell me how you did it?

I do this all the time and have been for several years. I don't have OCD and don't know whether this is a part of it. Sounds like you need to tell a professional about it. I haven't told anyone, because I didn't think it was a severe enough case.

I hope you find relief from your problem. Good luck.

When I get anxiety I always bite the inside sides of my mouth. I usually go through stages where I do it non-stop than can control it. The only thing that works for me is to try and catch myself in the act and that force myself not to do it. I've also just started on lexapro which seems to have calmed me down and I've noticed I do it much less.
