I used to be able to go days with very little sleep, maybe a few hours a night anf function well. But then over the last year I have to get 8 hours a night or I feel awful the next day. My eyes burn, my head hurts and I feel overall like I took a heavy sleeping pill the night before and can't kick that spaced out feeling. Does anyone know why this is or what this could be related to?

Thanks!

Listen to your body, it is telling you it has been cheated on sleep way too long and it is time to get more sleep. 8 hours sleep is a normal healthy amount.

The symptoms your describing aren't necessary related to sleep as much as an overall general help. Do you excerise? Take vitamins? Have relaxing times? It's hard to direct such symptoms at one specific aspect of your life.

you didnt mention your age.....but guessing.......you are getting older and your body doesnt tolerate the things it did when you were younger!!! LOL. i am 33.....i havent been able to stay up all night in at least 5 years.......i used to go to a friends house and play cards til 3, or 5 in the morning.......now.......i am miserable by 11 pm. and really dead by midnight! i have to have a minimum of 8 hours of sleep or i feel totally rotten......but feel GREAT if i get at least 10 hours of sleep. so even though i dont know your age....you can most likely chalk it up to just simply getting older. sorry! :(

Im very active, but I don't take vitamins. Are they really helpful? And I prbably dont have proper realxing times in the day. I see what youre saying, it happened so abruptly that I felt like something was wrong with me.

Just like everything else, vitamins are very good in moderation. You have to look at your life in the big picture. Even good things have limits, for example, taking a shower is good, but you can't shower all the time, sleeping is good, but you can't sleep all the time, eating is good, but you can't eat all the time......etc...you get the point

Your body is a very sophisticated machine. If your body is telling you something, definently listen. I would recommend taking a multivitamin, or even kids flintson vitamins. You don't want to take 1 type of vitamin, and ignore the rest bc you will be off balance. One a day vitamins are very balanced.

You haven't mention year age. When people are younger they get distracted with more basic parts in life, and their health is usually very strong so you won't notice health problems as easily, but as you get older your body will be much more aware of problems it's running into.

Having a problem like being tired could be from many different things, I would start out with things that are easy to change and see if it makes a difference like taking a vitamin, and go from there.

Good Luck!
