I'm 25 years old and lately I've been retaining a lot of water. My feet, legs, and ankles are swelling. But it only happens while I'm at work. Also theres been frequent chest pain which I thought might be acid reflux. Are these signs of of a heart attack, should I be worried?

Hi burton_Lavette,

Yes, indeed, this may indicate a heart condition. If the right side of the heart is not effectively pumping out blood, the chamber blood will backup and fluids would build up in the lower extremities.(worst case scenario).

Discomfort, pain (angina) in the chest area could be due to lack of blood/oxygen flow (ischemia) to the heart muscle. When there is an insufficient blood/oxygen pumped to the heart and into circulation the kidneys are programmed into increasing fluids. The two symptoms together do indicate a problem but that would be conjecture without further information.
