I take Synthroid for my bad thyroid and it can make me manic if the dose is too high. But, on a normal dose, when I combine it with Cymbalta, I went manic. Screaming, crying, crazy manic.

I have stopped taking the Cymbalta and birth control pills. The Synthroid helps keep me happy and not depressed. BUT, I'm afraid I need a mood stabilizer to keep me from getting too happy or too screaming, crying nuts. Through in some PMS and I'm a regular she-devil.

ADs make me manic. Any suggestions on mood stabilizers that will keep me from going crazy? Anything that doesn't interfere with hormones or make me fat?

Also - are birth control pills a help or do they make bipolar worse?

Where is your pdoc? The pdoc should be the person advising on these questions as they have all the answers to them. They know which drugs work best with BCP's and which ones are the best Mood Stabilizers, also which ones don't cause so much weight gain as well, etc. Do you have a pdoc right now?

Please contact your doctor asap!!! You will feel so much better. The BCP's will also make you feel yucky just because of the horomone levels dropping and going all over the map. You might need to go on a different kind of BC. The MD or GYN/obyn would be best to advise you on that.
