View Full Version : A new method to taking Seroquel - against weight gain.

Hello all,

As I mentioned in sarahbear's post on Seroquel, the drug causes weight gain due largely to the fact that your metabolism and bodily functions are slowed to a halt. This is because the medicine is taken orally (all the way), and your entire body is affected as the result.

What I was thinking about to avoid this is letting the pill(s) disolve under your tongue. Has anyone tried this? Some "mind-intended" pills are now being prescribed to dissolve under your tongue, and work with far greater impact (such as Melatonin or 5HTP). And with Seroquel - albeit I am no doctor of how the internal organs work - perhaps it would not only work far better on our minds, but it would also avoid hitting our internal organs... thus resulting in a lesser impact on our metabolism.

I am curious to know peoples thoughts on this. It may apply to many BP/AP meds... not just Seroquel. Tonight I will try dissolving half a pill under my tongue. I'll keep people posted.

That sounds interesting. The only thing that I would worry about is how horrible it must taste. I might try that myself. I know that when I get migrains I usually break the pills up and they seem to act faster. I'm interested to see what will happen. Keep me posted. Thanks!

i wonder though if the pills are composed in a way to be processed by other organs in the body, and if that is how the pill is designed to work. i know zyprexa has a disolvable form, and i have heard it is supposed to not cause weight gain. it is an interesting topic to bring up. since most of the reason patients don't want to take these drugs is because of weight gain, why aren't they trying to come up with alternative ways of processing the drug in the body?

I spoke to my pharmasist who says the medication will not work if dissoved and there is nothing to do other than whatch what you eat. I know a lot of the newsletters i get say to get a regular nights sleep that staying up late you tend to eat more the longer you stay up. I know I do.
