Can I take ambien with opiates, ie percocet. The pharmacist said that the opiates would make me tired and wouldn't need the ambien, but I have bad insomnia and need my ambien. Is it ok to take ambien a few hours after the percocet?

Well, why don't you see if you can sleep on the Percocet alone? Or, perhaps you can go to sleep on the Ambien and won't need to take a pain pill?

I take Ambien and recently I was in the hospital and they administered both opiates (morphine) and the sleeping pill(ambien). When I returned home I was given percocet and Ambien and both the physician and my doctor said it is safe because they work on different parts of the brain (only took pain pillls for three days in combination with ambien). But I would also suggest, like index.html, that you give just the pain medicine a try. Do feel nervous like you can't/won't sleep and you'll screw your sleep pattern up? Sometimes I have found this to be the case when you become used to ambien. Just a thought.

I ended up on Ambien after I quit taking opaties after surgery. When the day comes when you try to stop taking all these meds it cam be really difficult. So I would be careful.
With lots of Vicadon I didn't care if I was asleep or not. Just put on a old Grateful Dead CD.
