I have been a paranoid person my entire life and thought i've had many diseases but I just have a storng feeling about this. Problem is that i'm 16 and should have decades left on my life.

Back in Febuary I was sitting on my PC playing a game and I got a quick pain in my chest. My heart felt like it was out of control. I figured it was just a panic attack because I thought I was having a heart attack. I nearly went to the E.R but I decided against it and fell asleep. Well this went on for a week and never seemed to stop so I went to my doctor and he said it seemed like I have an extra heart beat and that is was benig. He scheduled me an EKG that day and I went and I got the results a few weeks later. They said it was normal. The out of control heart rate has persisted until a few weeks ago where it calmed down. I kept complaining to my parents that something is wrong but they trusted the EKG. Now a few weeks ago my feet started swelling on the upper outer side. My appetite is gone and I have a cough that will not go away. I have some minor fatigue and weakness and I am forgetting things like crazy. My BP is normal but my Pulse is 102. I went on a short two mile walk with my dad a few weeks ago and I made it but I had so much trouble compared to the last time I did it and I when I started trying to catch up I felt like my heart was going to stop because it couldn't handle anymore. I can't believe this and that i'm going to die in my teens or early 20's because my doctors didn't catch the problem. BTW I went to the doctor when the swelling started. My doctor said through a physical examination that my heart didn't seem enlarged and that my vital signs were normal.

I am a 5'11 Male who weighed in at 203 lbs at my last official weigh in so i'm not overweight too badly.

I bought a scale and in the morning I weigh 204 in the mornings and sometimes up to 208 at night. Is this normal? I should be losing weight because I haven't ate anything in forever.

An average person at 5'11" is considered obese at 215#...by that standard you are VERY overweight. I'm sure by several standards a 16 year old at your weight would be considered dangerously obese.
If you follow the normal progresssion you will be obese very soon and morbidly obese soon after that. It's a dreadful path to get on.

ALL of your symptoms might be cleared up by losing 40 pounds.

BUT you are indeed showing too many telltale markers for heart problems, especially leg swelling with coughing and fatigue. Please get a workup by a cardiologist; just an ECG isn't enough. Probably a stress test would be a good idea...let a cardiologist make the call whether to go with a perfusion test (nuclear markers) with the stress test. If not, then an echogram immediately afterwards.

All is probably okay and some exercise and weight loss can work wonders. Visit the Weight Loss section in the forum.

My parents won't take me is the problem and the fact that i'm not losing weight is scaring me. All I drink is water and occasionally diets and staying at 204-205 despite not eating much at all. I know it's too late and if the out of control heart rate+ being overweight has taken it's toll on my heart.

I also have lead a sedentary lifestyle full of bad eating for the past four years. I used to be a very healthy and active person and would play sports every day all day long. I didn't think this laziness was affecting my health because when i'd go to the doctor he'd tell me everything was fine every time. About my cough my doctor noticed it when I went and said it didn't really seem like a cough associated with heart failure.

If it was CHF would it be in the early stages?

You're only 16. It's extremely unlikely that you have CHF. You may have a heart arrhythmia of some kind, if anything. It's definitely not "too late." At age 16, you have PLENTY of time to get your health back on track.

Also, if you're literally hardly eating, that could be contributing. Fluctuations in blood sugar can cause heart irregularities. And believe it or not, starving yourself can actually slow weight loss because your body says "Oh no, there's a famine, I'd better conserve fat." Please start eating a healthy diet.

What would happen if you explained to your parents that you'd like to see your doctor for a checkup and a nutritionist for help losing weight?

My heart just feels like it's beating very weakly when I do something and it doesn't start beating fast anymore. That is what scares me most of all.

News flash, eating NOTHING will not cause you to lose weight. It will cause your metabolism to slow down to make up for the lack of food.

If you want to lose weight, eat properly, and eat often(small meals). Eat 4-6 small meals per day. Cut out soads, cut out candy, cut out all the stuff you know that you should not eat.

Exercise when you have the chance.

If you were in heart failure, it would show up on an EKG no problem.

In the mean time, see another doctor for a second opinion.

I was diagnosed with CHF at age 19. The first warning signs were shortness of breath. And not shortness of breath like I needed an extra breath here or there, but shortness of breath to the point where the pain in my chest was so excrushiatiing, that I had to stop in the middle of a walk that had only being a minute prior. Then the coughing started. Bloody cough followed after that. Swelling of the ankles, mid-section, ect. Also a chest x-ray showed an enlarged heart.

How old are you now?

The EKG was in Febuary BTW and the symptoms didn't start until a few weeks ago.

I'd be willing to bet that your doctors and your parents helped to cause your paranoia. There are a lot of ineffective doctors, who lack the talent to diagnose a patient's health problems properly, so they blame the patient. They'll usually tell the patient that stress or anxiety is causing the patient's illness. The parents believe this garbage and tell their son or daughter that there is nothing wrong with them, and that it is all in their kid's head. In some cases this is true, but in most cases, there is a definite health problem, and in most cases the health problem is not a threat to life.

I don't think that you are paranoid. I think that you have had some uncomfortable health problems, and everyone is telling you that there is nothing wrong with you.

Back in Febuary I was sitting on my PC playing a game and I got a quick pain in my chest. My heart felt like it was out of control. I figured it was just a panic attack because I thought I was having a heart attack.

If it was a panic attack, you would have had the panic attack BEFORE the chest pain, not after.

Do you have allergies? Have you ever been diagnosed with Asthma?

Many people suffer from heart rhythm irregularities, which are caused by allergens in their home, environment or food. But, doctors would rather blame their patients "anxiety" or "stress" than admit that they are not capable of diagnosing the patient properly.

When your heart's rhythm is messed up, and it is not pumping as it should, it can cause over-sweating, weakness, fatigue, tiredness, lethargy, nausea, among other symptoms, but it usually doesn't usually mean that you have AFib or Heart Failure. Basically, you've got to find out the things that are irritating your heart and avoid them. You've got to play detective, especially since there doesn't seem to be anyone helping you.

I bought a scale and in the morning I weigh 204 in the mornings and sometimes up to 208 at night. Is this normal? I should be losing weight because I haven't ate anything in forever.

One of the most important things that you can do for your health is feed your body a proper diet. Your body needs proper nutrients to maintain it's strength and well being. You might lose weight by starving yourself, but it is not good for your health.

Lately i've been exhausted and I feel like I need to go to sleep around 4 hours after I wake up and I usually do. I can breath fine while I lie down and I don't wake up at night though.

I can't believe this is happening to me. Even if it isn't HF I don't like this and want it to stop. BTW when I had the irregular heart rhythem it was insane. It comes back every once in awhile but it's so weak now I can barely feel it. I think it's very obvious that my heart beats so much that it's killing itself very fast.

I think it's very obviousy you need to see a doctor about this issue. Sitting around and worrying about what it MIGHT be isn't going to help you figure out what it REALLY is.

My parents will NOT take me. I don't know how many times I need to say it.

Why don't you just try calling 911 when it feel serious, if your parents won't take you? You could also try talking to a school nurse; maybe she'll be able to convince your parents something may be wrong.

In the meantime, if you really "haven't eaten in forever," that's not going to help you at all. That will in fact cause your heart to beat differently, and it's the reason severe anorexics can end up dying of heart failure. Your body needs nutrition to operate properly.

At your height I don't think you are seriously overweight, and simply being 5'11" and weighing 205 will not cause heart failure in a 16 year-old. You need to try eating healthy foods on a normal schedule whether you have an appetite or not. If you have no idea what to eat, see a nutritionist or try researching healthy eating online.
