I am completely new to this, but I am giving it a try. I had a total hysterectomy 18 years ago and I still have hot flashes. Will this continue forever? I am so tired of them! I currently take a Depo-Estradiol shot every 10 days, but I don't think it works. I am not sure what else to try. Any ideas? I get a horrible hot flash almost every afternoon from 2 until 6, or so. It covers my face, upper chest and both arms from above my wrist to my shoulders. I am not stressed when this happens. The baby (well, she's three and a massive tantrum thrower) is napping, the house is quiet at this time (my husband and I help care for 10 disabled adults, plus three of our own), my husband is at work and it's peaceful. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi...I am sorry I cannot offer you any help with the hot flashes. Your post caught my eye because my mother who is 74 ran into an old friend of hers awhile back who is 70. Her friend told her that she still suffers from hot flashes even though she has not had a period since she was 53. An ongoing meno symptom that has never gone away for her.

I was wondering though if you have seen the hysterectomy board that is here too? You might try posting on that board as well if you haven't done so already. I hope you get some relief soon. I have had a few hot flashes but none that come everyday like yours do. I hope someone has some good advice for you soon.

Take care

Tell me you are joking! That many years of hot flashes. I thought maybe 5 and certainly no more than 10 years. I could just cry and cry. Why do we have to suffer like this? for so long? What did I do wrong?

I wish I knew. I am so tired of this and so frustrated. I just want them to stop! Kym
