Does anyone know anything about eosiniphils? They are part of the white blood cells. I know they increase with parasitic infections and allergy and asthma being the most common and some cancers. My eosiniphils have been between 1500 and 2300 for 2 years now. I keep getting sent to all different drs for testing. They have ruled out a parasitic infection, asthma and allergies. I had 3 different drs tell me it had to be leukemia and I had bone marrow taken out and that was negative also. They are still doing tests. Does anyone know anything about the eosiniphils?

They are a part of the phagocytosis sytem. They do respond to allergies, parasites and possibly any other foreign invader that they believe is harmful to the body. Mostly they are seen in autoimmune disorders where the body develops an allergy to its own adrenalin or in arthritic conditions where a person is taking medications to control inflamation of arthritis. In fact some cases people have developed symptoms of lymphoma from drugs designed to treat arthritis. It is the cost/ benefit thing, not saying the drug is bad but all drugs have side effects of one kind or another.
