Has any one here ever had a chemical pregnancy?
If you have a chemical pregnancy, would your next period be very, very heavy?

Just wondering. I always have very light periods and this one is sooooo heavy. I am going through pads like crazy. Sorry if this is TMI. This is not normal for me, and my doc is out of town until Thursday. Before my period came, I was actually having what I thought were signs of pregnancy.

I had a chemical pregnancy 2 months ago, and I was 12 days late, then all of a sudden it was like the flood gates opened, ( sorry TMI) and I had the worst period of my life. I would go to the doctor just to make sure though.

No, it's not TMI--that is exactly how I am right now. The bleeding is horrid, and I can literally feel my uterus contracting. This is definitely not normal. I called the doctor's office and have an appt. for Thursday. My doctor won't be back in town until then. The nurse said that if the bleeding gets worse, go to the ER.

I did a home pregnancy test, and it came back negative. If this is a chemical pregnancy, do you think the HcG levels would be gone by now or maybe so low that a home pregnancy test wouldn't pick them up?

If it turns out being a chemical pregnancy, I just wish I knew why my body did not allow the fertilized egg to implant. I am so sad. This was our third month TTC.

Hailey,
I think you and I are in the same boat right now. I was 6 days late this month. I tested 1 day after AF was due, but got a BFN. I promised myself I would wait to test for another week to give myself enough time. A day before I was going to test again, I started AF out of nowhere. Like you, I had tons of pg symptoms. Now, AF is a lot heavier and I have a lot of clotting. My cramps are a lot worse than normal. I'm wondering if I had a chemical pregnancy also. This was our second month TTC.

Good luck, and feel better! Let us know what the doc says.

Hang in there. I would go see your doctor anyway. I never got a positive test either. I've had children, so I knew I was pregnant, I had such bad morning sickness. Don't get discoraged, at least for now, you know that the sperm met your egg. That';s the way you have to look at it. Feel better! Baby dust!

Thanks everyone for your support :) I don't feel so alone in this.

Thankfully, the cramping eased up a little bit today. I've still been taking Ibuprofen to help with the pain. However, I am still bleeding A LOT. I wouldn't say it's gotten worse, but it really hasn't lightened up yet. The nurse told me not to be alarmed if I bleed heavy for the next week.

I know I shouldn't feel so bummed about having a chemical pregnancy because it at least shows that I am able to conceive...but I just keep going over and over in my mind if there is something I could have done to prevent this from happening. I do have a tilted uterus. Does any one know if it could have been caused by this?

Hailey,
How did your doctor's appt go? Hope you're feeling better!

Hello Heiley,
I just wanted to share my experience with you. I got pregnant in my 3rd month on ttc. I ended up taking 4 tests, the 1st one was a 1st response and i took it the first possible day and it came back BFN, i took the 2nd one two days before af was due and it came back BFP, then took another one that night and it was BFN. I think because it was still early and maybe diluted b/c it was night. i took 4th one the next morning and it was BFP. A week later I started spotting and then it got really heavy. I went to the doc and she said i had a complete m/c (is a m/c that early on the same as a chemical pregnancy??). I bled heavy for about a week with lots of clots. My next period was back to normal. I dont no if any of this helps at all but just wanted to share with you that your not alone. Like dizzygirl said at least we know we are able to conceive. But trust me I def. know how you feel about being bummed out and sad and it is NORMAL and OKAY to feel this way. my doc said there it was nothing i did wrong she said that for some unknown reason 1 out of 4 pregnancies end in a m/c. she also said that most of the time it is almost like the m/c gets your body ready to be able to handle and carry a baby full term and most of the time the women gives birth to a perfectly healthy baby on her next pregnancy. I hope this helps at least a little.

SORRY ITS SO LONG!

You're right! A chemical pregnancy is a very early m/c. And also, having that m/c can make it easier to conceive after. I felt like it was a m/c that happened months into the pregnancy. It's still a loss, it hurts.

Update: Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. I've been nursing my DH back to health. He just got horrid food poisoning after eating at Chick-Fil-A, but that's another story. I did go to the doctor. He did some blood work and confirmed that I had a chemical pregnancy. He assurred me that I did nothing wrong. He also said that women have chemical pregnancies all the time but some simply mistake them for a bad period. My bleeding has almost stopped, thank goodness. I also feel happy knowing that at least my husband and I *can* conceive. We're going on our fourth month now TTC and are optimistic to try again. Just want to say thanks again to everyone who responded to my post. Baby dust to everyone here!
