I'm a first time poster, but I thought I'd post to give a little hope to people who might be having a tonsillectomy in the near future.
I'm 24 and had my tonsils removed on the 2nd, so I'm on day 4. I found the procedure to be fairly easy, just a little bit of naseau afterward, but that is normal for some people. The pain I have found to be quite tolerable. Granted it hurts to swallow and it takes me a while to eat anything. But I am eating and drinking which is a good thing. I've been eating pudding, jello, toast, eggs, pasta and I even ate a McDonald's cheeseburger last night. I'm not sure if I should be expecting a day or two of really bad pain, but like I said so far it's been bearable.
The one thing I will say is to make sure you keep drinking. I drink so much, that I'm up to pee every couple of hours. I'm not sure if that has helped, but I was able to take myself off the percoset on day two. I've been on Tylenol extra strength since then.
So hang in there, and if you're having the surgery don't be scared. Each person is different, so your story may be different from everyone elses. And push those liquids and food!
