This is something new for me. I have been battling hypothyroid since 94 and my TSH levels have been sort of uncontrolled this past year, I'm thinking due to severe stress. In the past month or so I've noticed this occasional feeling in my throat, tight, like the throat muscle aches, or a lump. Causes me to want to swallow lots. Throat doesn't hurt though. There is occasional acid taste. Would this be reflux maybe from the stress??? I'm so sick of problems. I bought some OTC antacid, famotidine. Hope it works.

I have GERD and an anxiety disorder and well they both can cause tightning of the throat. It sounds more like anxiety/stress to me. When my GERD acid reflux bothers me my throat burns. When my anxiety is bad my throat will get so tight I feel like I can breath. Hope I could help.

I have a Gerd problem with a Hyatial Hernia for over 20 yrs. Stress can cause alot of problems. The OTC's can help, if one doesn't then try another. I took Cimetidine (prx.) for several years, on and off, & then it quit helping. The nurse said to try OTC's, keep trying until I find one that helps. I did try several I found one to help. The throat tightness could by anxiety or ? Can you slow down and focus on something peaceful? Do you pray? If you do try remembering scriptures that help.
I hope you can work your way through the stressful times. I know I am doing that now. Lyndal
