since i was very young, cant even remember how long, i haven't been able to dive all the way to the bottom of a pool without my ears hurting like hell. same with when i go up and down in planes, although in a plane it's a million times worse and i end up swelling the inside of my ears, as well my throat swells and i'm a snotbucket. it's really disgusting.
i used to be able to dive about 8 feet under water before feeling this. i'm a fish in water and love it but for tihs. this year i can't dive more than 4 feet.. i can't make it to the bottom of the pool without that pain coming again and we have a 10 feet deep pool i believe, it's more than 8 is all i know.
i'm thinking that the cause is the same as underwater diving for the plane thing. the pain is about the same type, accept in a plane you can't really stop yourself from going any further.
is there any way to make that better? i'd like to dive underwater and also in the future go to other countries and travel. i plan on it next year but i know that once i land, i'll be sick and exhausted for at least a day if not 2. the last few flights i took, wihch were all more than a year ago, but i had flown a lot within a year. i was sick each time i landed. twice i wound up with strep throat. once i lost my voice entirely. i think that this can also be caused by the germs people carry on since the air doesn't circulate well in an airplane. either way, i don't take well to this.
i'm not going ot see the doc about it now, since i don't have any plans to travel just yet and it can be avoided if i just stay to the top of the pool. i'm aiming for a trip next year though which will require a plane.
anyone have any clue? i know everyone gets sore ears on planes, but i think mine take it to the extreem where the inside of my ears come out. nothing at all works, like blocking your nose and blwoing, chewing gum, i've tried it all.. i usually try to sleep but the pain is too much plus there's always quite the chatty sally next to me. i'm surprised they keep talking to me when i look like the plague. :rolleyes:
