Hi
I was wondering what you would consider your top 3 worst symptoms?
For me it's,
1. Fatigue
2. Bloating
3. Restless sleeping
Oh the list goes on, but those are my top 3 worst so far.
Hugs

HI , it has varied over the past few years but I think always on top has been :
Anxiety.
Now it is that, bloating and sometimes stomach issues but luckily that does not happen much any longer.

You said you get hives??? Wow, that has to be miserable. That is the first time I've heard of someone getting hives.
Thanks to you, and the rest of you who've answered this post. It's interesting to compare symptoms.
Have a great evening, fellow sufferers....lol

#1 Anxiety. Anxiety has to be, hands down, my worst peri symptom. I never know what to expect with this one.
#2 Palpitations. I know these are harmless, but boy oh boy, they can really get me going some times.
#3 Insomnia. I used to be a great sleeper. I have no trouble falling asleep, but I just can't seem to stay asleep. I wake up all night long. Yesterday, I woke at 3:15 a.m. and never went back to sleep. Today, I was fortunate enough to sleep in until 4:30 a.m. This is driving me crazy.

So hard to give just three but here goes:
Anxiety-The feeling of dread-teary feeling
Cramping-
Hot Flashes-
But if you ask my husband his number one and two would be loss of desire and grouciness... I'd have to agree with him.

Hi Slimseeker, yup hives. I am assuming it's menopause as it all started two weeks after my 48th birthday. I've had mild allergies all my life, but now it's gone crazy. I have heard of hives during hormonal fluctuations, during pregnancy and stuff, they are miserable. The awful thing is they don't let up, I take an antihistamine every day which controls them nicely, but if I miss even one, they erupt like crazy! I would love to talk to some other menopausal women who have hives, anyone out there?

Top 3:
Acne
Weight Gain
Palpitations
And, yes hives too. I take a Benadryl and Singulair everyday. I can go weeks without any, then boom, I will have them off and on for weeks again. Can't figure out any foods, soaps, laundry detergent causing them. Must be hormones. The top three are tough because I can have 3 bad symptoms on one day then 3 different ones driving me crazy the next. Ann

Hi all,
I wanted to thank you for your responses. It's amazing reading through all your top symptoms how much we all suffer pretty much the same things.
We will all get through this as has millions of women before us. Can you imagine in the older days how hard it was for women going through this??? We have a lot of nice modern conveniences that help us, but oh those poor women years ago who went on before us. Imagine those on the rough wagons travelling with all those symptoms, and oh no kotex....we sure are lucky to go through meno in today's age...don't you all agree?
Have a great day and thanks for your replies. Hang in there...it WILL get better

My 3 are
(1). Hot Flashes- at night while I am trying to sleep, I wake up with my gown soaking wet.
(2). Depression/Mood Swings bad
(3). I am always forgetting things that I should not forget. And it is getting worse. I am beginning to worry about my self.

I think taking fertility drugs for a time has done something to my chemical makeup? I started perimenopause about four months ago according to my blood workup. I am so miserable now, I don't know what to do or where to turn next. I've seen a regular doctor, a gyn/RE and then an ear, nose and throat doctor.. Why? Because I'm so dizzy once a month. It wakes me from a sound sleep and the room is spinning and then I get a sick feeling with anxiety..
So my main symptoms at this time are.
1. Dizzy, (a spinning feeling)
2, Nausea to the point of vomiting
3. Anxiety
4. Crying, I am just so emotional and miserable.
6.. Sleep problems for the first time in my life.
No hot flashes YET, but my hands and feet suddenly get hot and sweaty.
All of this while my periods are normal like clockwork...

Hi Lorene. Was on very high doses of prednisone to treat a blood disorder. Found the prednisone worse than the disease but just didn't have a choice. I suspect the steroids played a part in messing up my hormones so that now I get to endure some very bad days going through peri-meno. Just really ready to feel normal again.

1. well, not sleeping all night because I wake up HOT - not sweaty - just HOT. So I do not get a full night's sleep which makes me tired and cranky.
2. I do have anxiety and feelings of dread.
Sometimes trembling a little when I lay down for bed - my hands tremble.
3. I have gas. (I"ll try the suggested Beano)
I feel like I have no energy to go out with my BF...and if we do - I always want to go home before 11:00pm.
4. MY BONES!! Almost forgot that at night now, I have to wear a wrist brace or one of my hands tends to go to sleep!!! My lower back aches a lot so I have to watch my posture.
In general - I feel like hell most of the time!
My constant question of the day at work and home is "is it hot in here?" :dizzy:

1. Anxiety / extreme irritability / mood swings / hypochondria / nightmares
2. Fatigue / brain fog / depression / no energy or motivation
3. Completely unpredictable periods... anything between 2.5 and 14 weeks so far... I get 2/3 weeks of PMS symptoms sometimes with nothing to 'show' for it!
It's good to know I'm not alone but this is horrible! I sometimes feel like screaming at members of my family... an idiot in a van bumped my car the other day and I couldn't stop crying all day... I feel so antisocial I don't want to talk to or be with anyone (except my dear hub)... can't be doing with any stress and it's such a struggle to keep together at the mo. :dizzy:
Thanks for letting me vent. My mother said she felt fantastic once the menopause ended - I cling to that hope! :)

I have the hives but I am not sure it is associated with this time in my life. I just take a Zyrtec once a day and don't have to deal with that. The three top that are killing me are.....
hot/cold/hot/cold/hot/cold.....all night so I don't get any sleep hardly. That number one complaint will make anyone fatigued.
Bloating is awful, is that from menopause?
I'd say the last of the top three is the weight thing.

cyndi...I get the itching and hives all over. Zyrtec works wonders for it. I don't deal with it at all now. My doc says skin is changing too so it can be from hormones, but who knows...I do know it gets worse when I get hot. Since I started zyrtec once a day--no more itches!!!

1. Hair loss
1. Confusion/ memory
1. Anxiety and irritablilty.
I have recently started taking Ummmm...oh yeah (almost forgot) Lexapro. Does seem to be helping with the crying jags and the suicidal thoughts. Haven't gained any weight yet but after reading everyone elses posts it's starting to make me worry! This is my first post. I am 48 and have been peri for many years. Women really do get the short end of the stick heh?
I do Jazzercise 3 times a week. It is really fun and seems to help a lot. I recommend it to anyone.
thanks for listening.

My God I am normal then after all!!
I was told when I was 45 that I was peri-menopausal and I'm now 48.
I used to be able to set the clock by my periods but then they started being very irregular.
As I type my last one was on the 17th July. I stopped doing pregnancy tests as I just put it down to the change now! lol
But I have to say I'm really suffering from nerves and anxiety - almost panic attacks, I'd say! I feel really, really nervous when I'm in the passenger seats of cars too and as for the memory - well it's totally unbelievable! I can't remember anything and I can all my words mixed up when I'm speaking - I never ever expected to feel like this and I just can't get used to feel so anxious about everything, it's just not me at all!
Does anyone take anything for the anxiety?
Oh and I nearly forgot, every so often I get really, really itchy all over too and come out in spots! Something, I've never had in my life before!

1. Bloating
2. Fatigue
3. Heavy Periods
I was glad to hear that someone else is getting words mixed up. I say things backwards, leave out words in my sentences, and I'm not as organized as I used to be. I keep losing things. Reading these posts lets me know I'm not crazy, just normal for peri-menopause!

Oh yes me too! I keep forgetting where I put things and getting my words all out of order when I'm trying to speak, it's awful sometimes!

headaches/migraines
night sweats,
anxiety with palpitations,
Insomnia,
body aches,
sorry I had to pick 5, I'm really suffering!
But it seems what ever symptoms I'm having at that time is the worse and control my life!
