i was trying to search for phobias of fireworks and all i could find was the problem of fireworks with pets and I said to myself, "am I normal or was I supposed to be an animal?" Then i found this site and i realised Im not crazy but there are many people like me. Ever since i was young i would have problems with fireworks and bursting of balloons. the noise was too much for me to take and i felt i could nothing but block my ears with my fingers. this became a real habit and my mum would call me aspestic. but i couldnt stop i would feel like my heart was hurting me or something....can anybody help me a bit, myabe u hav some suggestions ? I dont suffer so much anymore but they sitll irritate me a lot

The best thing that works with OCD is direct exposure to your fear (I almost feel you shudder in horror), but it works wonders. Try deliberately putting yourself in that position with a loud noise. Not too loud at first, just something you can get used to. Then move onto louder things. If you avoid a fear (ANY fear) it will only make you more sensitive to it, and it will effect you all the more.
