howdy, i was just wondering if anyone else felt this way on prevacid. it seems that every time i take this med, 2/day, my throat feels so raw and dry and at times feels as though it is going to shut up on me, sometimes when i lie down on my side, my throat feels so irritated. i am at wit's end. the prevacid seems to work for a few months and stops. i stopped it for 3 days because i think the throat thing gets worse on the med. i do not have trouble swallowing. sometimes my upper chest area and ears bother me. anyone else get this? i am seriously thinking of quitting these ppis. i cannot take nexium, gives me stomach pains. anyone have any suggestions. thanks.

Nexuim gave me anxiety,im back on aciphex after it quit working zegerid quit on me too.Prevacid,Protonix,and Nexium never really helped me..You need the ppi to protect you have you tried any of the others??i here ya about the throat deal ive been there,mine hurts today..really you must protect your esphoagus with a ppi if you are having reflux,if your not than you dont nned it...

i have tried protonix, nexium and prevacid. my symptoms when i first was put on these meds were a dry cough and an irritation in my throat. never really had heartburn. i also had a sore throat most mornings, always thought i was getting a cold. very frustrating disease. right now i do not feel good.

have you changed your diet. I find when my diet is restricted I feel much better. I too have been on most PPI's but have gotten off of them. I am taking a homeopathic remedy which seems to be working. I do have some heartburn if I eat wrong but my throat has been so muich better.

Lynniebelz, would you mind telling us the name of the homeopathic remedy you are using? I've tried a couple, but not consistently enough to know whether they work. Also, how how you changed your diet?

Patt (and others): I developed most of my throat problems when trying to quit Prevacid after only two months on the drug. I'm still struggling with these issues. I also had other side effects that alarmed me -- but not my doctor.

i try to watch what i eat. i have to for the most part stay away from acidity things like oranges, spaghetti sauce, and things like that. today my throat is not bad, i tried last night taking my prevacid at night, seemed to work better, i just do not know whether to take 2 at once. i will give it a try. i also do not like the side effects. i think the ppi bloat me, constipate me and at times cause a headache. i wish i had not started them at all. i just had that little irritaion in my throat. oh well no sense looking back now.
