View Full Version : My Flexiblity sucks!

Allright so I have a problem with my hip going out of place which causes one of my legs to be longer than the other which causes he to walk, run and most importantly play soccer differently. I tend to be a lot more slow sprint wise and my form whil trying to run long distance sucks. This is also really hurting my one right upper hamstring.

i go to the chiropracter as much as i can (can afford that is) to make it go back into place and it helps. but i am doing off season training for my senior college year of soccer. i was told to work on my flexibility and to build my hamstrings. i was also told if i work on my abs + back it *may* help with my hip coming out.

i have a question on how i can increase flexibilty. i am not flexible at all! and besides helping my hip problem i want to increase my flex. just to be quicker... i stretch every day. before/after exercies and usually at night. i do cardio and lift..are there any tips out there?? thanks!

looks like your doing everyhting you can do? you cant force yourself to be anymore flexible, unless you have one of those machines and they can potentially pull your muscles too. Just keep stretching 2x a day. Get to that chiropractor to work on that hip and ask if there are certain exercise you can do, but I am assuming there really isnt.

I have a similar problem with my hip and one leg being shorter than the other. I have mild scoliosis. Chiro works for me to make me feel better. There are exercises my chiro is teaching me to improve my core strength so that I am more balanced.

There is a connection between ADD and being off balanced in this way. Some of the books I've read on the subject have suggested this.

My flexibility sucks and my hamstrings feel a little weird when I walk or start stretching them because these last couple of days I have been trying to push myself to touch my toes. I have been trying to find websites that would help me and I came across a website about deep breathing and then can stretch further; however, my lower back keeps me from bending forward to touch my toes. I want to be more flexible in my hamstrings and wherever else I need for soccer, softball, and to be faster.

before stretching its SUPER DUPER important to do 15 min of a warm up activity to increase blood flow to the muscles which will in turn me more effecive for your muscles. If you stretch cold..you will pull something. While stretching..DO NOT hold your breathe. that is the absolute WORST. Lastly, to increase flexibility, you must hold the stretch for 15-30 seconds (While breathing!) stretch once a day for atleast 20 minutes. trust me on this, im a figure skater and dancer and i have splits in every direction from doing this. So remember..warm up, hold for 15-30 seconds and BREATHE!
