I didnt really know where else to post this. I have always had a problem that occurs once in a while, where when I wipe sometimes tiny little blops of blood are there. very miniscule, and no blood is actually in the toilet. I am pretty sure that it is tearing.. but it seems to happen a bit too often then i would like, it has always striked me as uncommon. but ive never really talked with anyone about it. should i see my doctor about this? can it lead to infections or what not. i do take showers everday and try to keep that area clean. or am i just wiping too much that its causing it to bleed (as stupid as that sounds). i find that sometimes when i wipe, it never seems to get clean, there is also some stuff thats there to clean. am i just being a clean freak about it. thnks to who ever replys!

We can't make a judgement on how aggressive you are being at cleaning yourself of course. However blood on the tissue paper is not normal. It could be as benign as a hemmerhoid or it could be something more troubling. You can try a hemmerhoid cream such as 'Preparation H'. This is slightly uncomforatble but you will find that if it is a hemmerhoid that some of these symtoms will get better.

You have to get a doctor to look at it and make a determination.

Hi,
My advice to you is for you to see a colorectal doctor. I had stage 3, rectal cancer. I had no symptoms of this except some blood in my stools. No blood in the toilet. Felt wonderful and never imagined anything wrong. I never had hemmoroids so I thought maybe that's what it was. I immediately went to a gynocologist and she sent me down the hall to a colorectal doctor and that's when the fun began!! Anyway, I am 2 years cancer free, thank God. So please go see a doctor. Who knows, it could be nothing. But better find out sooner than later. Peace, Annette

You definately need to get a Colonoscopy done!!!! I too just had blood on the toilet paper, no other symptoms. No one in my family with cc before, and not a man nor over 50! Tho u dont say what age you are. I ended up with Stage 2 + cc.. now over it with having had a few ops and chemo. PLEASE get to a doctor and get a colonoscopy done!!
Keep us posted.

Annette, Thank you for posting. It is wonderful to hear from somebody who had the same dx as my hubby and is doing great 2 years out. It give us hope that we can regain some sort of normalcy to our lives in the future. :bouncing:
My husband was also dx as stage III rectal in July of 2005. He had 5 1/2 weeks of radiation along with round the clock 5 FU infusion. He had tumor removed the end of October and a temporary loop iliostomy. He went through 10 cycles of Folfox and 2 cycles of just the 5FU and Levorcorin, finishing hic chemo May 19,2006. he is sceduled to have his reversal on July 11th.

What did your treatment consist of? What side effects did you have and how long did they take to go away? Larry is 2 months out from getting any oxaliplatin and the numbness and tingling in his hands and feet are as bad as they ever were. He also is having problems with fluid retention in his feet. He is hoping to be able to return to his job this fall but being a chef is concerned with the limited use of his hands especially handling things that are hot or cold.
Thanks in advance for any insite you can give us , Kathy

I read some stuff about it, and I am hoping it is only external hemroids, the symptoms are almost exactly what I have. Irritiation and itchy, it also said wiping too much is something that can lead to it. But I am going to go to my doctors at the end of this week or beginning of next week hopefully so they can clarify it. thanks for all the help.
