View Full Version : Does anyone here know a lot about cysts and brain tumors?

For eight months, I have been battling what my counsellor calls clinical depression. I have been tested for some mental illnesses, such as Schizophrenia, and have proven that I do not have them. My counsellor is having a rough time figuring out what caused the depression.
A couple of weeks ago, I found a lump on my head. I went to the doctor's, and they told me that it was a benign cyst. For awhile, it hurt a lot.
Lately, I have been experiencing dizziness and black-outs. I was tested for both diabetes and heart problems. The doctors said that my heart and blood sugar were normal. Sometimes I would feel nauseas, and my body sometimes aches. I vomited some. I( found it hard to focus on my work, and because of it, I lost two jobs.
I know my cyst is not cancerous. However, I have some strange symptoms. My doctor said that cysts do not cause any of those problems. I'm going to the eye doctor's soon to find out if I have any vision problems. I just want to know if these symptoms sound similar to those of brain tumors. And I also want to know if it is possible for a person with a cyst to also have a brain tumor. I know that these are two separate illnesses. I just get worried sometimes because it is taking forever to figure out what is wrong with me.

P.S. This might not be related, but I have had several ear infections over the last few years. Sometimes I have a strange buzzing sound in my ears. My vision has gotten significantly worse over the past 6 months. I would appreciate it if someone could help me.
Thanks.

Did the doctor say what type of cyst? What type of doctor gave you the results? My boyfriend recently all of a sudden started having headaches, double vision, dizziness and blurred vision. We went to the doctor and they thought it was his eyes got theat check got glasses etc. To make a long story short the MRI they said showed a cyst. Went to the neurosurgeon and it is a tumor not a cyst. He has the nausea and vomiting and will have surgery to remove it soon. My suggestion is see a neurosurgeon. I have seen some posts about cysts on here and neurologist says its nothing. Well obviously if its causing you symptoms and is there it is not nothing. My suggestion is a neurosurgeon and bring the test results teh actual films. Did they do an MRI? Best of luck and let me know what they say. Carol

The kind of cyst you have on your scalp is different than a cyst in the brain. The brain is encased in the skull bone. Your cyst has nothing to do with your brain and the doctor is correct in suggesting a dermatologist.
You symptoms are probably inner ear related or possibly migraine.
