ok i posted earlier. anemia is NOT whats going on with me.
Ive been "slighty" on and off dizzy since monday. not enough to faint or effect my walking or driving. i noticed my heart rate goes anywhere from 86 to 112. 112 seems to be when i am up and walking or carrying laundry. yesterday at rite aid bp checker said my pulse was 143!!! i returned home about an hour later hurried in the house to check and it was 112.tonight i stopped to have it checked and it was 114 but i felt nervous and i think thats why.
3 weeks ago i had a EKG and chest xray all is normal. I worry about my heart rate is that normal? is there something else that could be causing my slight dizziness? i went back to doc today he says its not cardiac and he did anemia test and now im waiting on electrolytes test. Low pottassium maybe? something isnt right. im so tired. i even thought maybe my tiredness was causing me to feel "slighty dizzy" havent gotten much sleep lately. my daughter has been getting up super early for feedings and my sleep is always disrupted. maybe 6 to 7 broken hours a night. maybe me worrying about my pulse is whats making it race but my BP is normal. i bought a home checker yesterday. im 28 years old. Anyone?
Thanks

hmmmmm, I am not a Doc, However, I think worrying about your pulse rate might just make it that higher. It is like the old saying, "Dont think about the pink elephant, of course, what does one do, thinks about the pink elephant.
I truly think in your case, it is not heart related. I know when my kids were really young and my sleep pattern was those crazy nights and mornings, I wasnt the same. I know you dont want to hear this, but, it could be lack of sleep along with a little stress. But, you know your body and you are headed in the right direction by getting your electrolytes tested and other tests done.
in the meantime: take some B's vitimans that will help your energy level B12 is a good one. I had my first at 27, so, I know how it is at this stage. I am now 35 and sleep still has never been the same...Good Luck to you. :bouncing:

I am not sure if you mentioned it, but what blocker do you take? I have Pac's ever since my first son was born. They are getting worse as I get older and the cardio wants me on blocker.....To this day they still sit. I am scared to death of the side effects.
Thanks.

im on a generic brand of inderal. They say the most common side effect is dizziness but i have never expirienced it while taking it. Propranolol its called.
I just took one about an hour ago and ive been steadily walking and my rate has been down to about 81 to 86 THANK god!! of course i was telling myself "ok i just took the beta blocker my rate will slow down" so now im wondering if all this IS anxiety related.
When you say PACS is that when you feel a flutter? like your heart is skipping? i started having those after my son was born 8 years ago and was told caffeine was a major cause. ive been off all caffeine for almost 3 weeks now and drinking alot of water and maybe have only had a few of them since then. But the weird thing is ever since ive been so worried about my fast pulse i have not had one missed beat. maybe it is all in my mind. im just glad its down to normal. and i feel a bit calmer. I recall this all happening when i started taking topamax for headaches. i later found out it has a side effect of anxiety. so i stopped taking it. ive been off it for about a month then when headaches came back i started it again. i only took it for 3 days and have not had it for the last 2 days my doctor told me not to take it anymore. so i wonder if this is all linked together. i have never been one to worry like this. my headaches have been an on going issue for many years. i had a ctscan 10 years ago and all was normal but when i was at the dr he says i have TMJ which could be big cause of headaches. my left side of jaw is really really bad and thats where my headaches always are. only on left side.

I get PVCs (or whatever they are - the cardiologist never told me) just about every day, and what bothers me the most is when I wake up in the middle of the night when the whole world is asleep, and my heart is acting up like crazy. Its a very scary, lonely feeling. This never used to happen before (the nighttime irregular beats) and I've had an irregular heartbeat for nearly 30 years. Its bad enough in the daytime, but now nighttime too! I had an echo and a Halter, and the doctor said that since I didn't feel any symptoms (except anxiety) when the irregular beats happened, I am fine, and not to worry. Easy for him to say!
I cut caffeine completely out of my diet - that made no difference. So I'm back to my one cup of instant in the morning. No soft drinks. I tried the B vitamins route, and that gave me awful nightmares and vivid dreams that were really bizarre. I've tried just about everything I've heard or read about, desperate to get rid of the awful skips and palps. I sometimes will feel breathless, and when I feel my pulse, my heartbeat is off every other beat! Not sure if its the anxiety causing the breathlessness. I'm not sure about anything anymore - this ha been going on for so long. It can, and often does, go on for hours at a time. I drink at least eight glasses of water every day, my diet is healthy and I've cut out all junk food. Still, nothing seems to help. Oh, I also exercise between five and seven days a week. The fish oil capsules didn't do a thing, and I have been takin 400mg of magnesium daily for the last few years. Extra calcium too, since I'm a woman. I noticed no difference in my heart rhythm. I'm willing to try just about anything, since I'm like a lot of people on this board who are afraid to go places and do things they enjoy because of the fear of an episode.
I'm on Propanolol, 20mg, three times a day. I did notice a difference when I first started taking them, but even though I've been on this drug for 10 years, my palps and skips still seem to come and go when they please. For the last two years, they've been worse than ever. Much worse. I also take Xanax as needed. It helps me through the worst of my episodes.
I am nearing menopause ((I'm going to be 51 soon) and I've heard the hormone imbalance at this time of life can contribute to heartbeat irregularities. I'm hoping things will get better when menopause is over.
I do have MVP, but its a very mild case. I've had just about all the sensations described by the OP. I've had flutters, the squeezing sensation (not of my whole chest, but just in my heart area) and the "going down fast in an elevator" feeling that takes your breath away. Also, the sudden BOOM! feeling of an especially hard single palp. The flutter I had lasted almost 20 minutes one day (the only time its happened for more than a few seconds) and I ended up in the ER, terrified. Of course, the episode had stopped by the time I got there. I never want to experience that kind of fear again, for sure.
By the way, the Propanolol does help my migraines quite a bit in terms of frequency and severity. It also keeps my heartrate lower. But my thinking is sometimes foggy and I forget things easily. That is a common side effect, from what I've heard. I also get extremely cold fingers and toes in the winter (despite living in S. Calif!) and the doctor says this side effect is made worse by the fact that I have Raynaud's. Oh, isn't this fun guys?

wow!
Well the dizziness im expiriencing is not really dizziness. its so hard to explain. ill try it this way...its like going to a very loud concert and coming out of it you know how your ears feel muffled and then you have this off balance feeling? thats how i feel only WITHOUT the muffled ears. my ears are clean. the dizziness does not get worse when i bend over or get up and down. its just there. i did have a roaring sound in my left ear the other day and sometimes my ears feel like they have to pop its feels like when i talk im muffled and cant really hear myself then they pop and im ok. im HOPING this dizziness is ear related and not heart related. im wondering if my heart rate was so high on and off because of maybe a bit of anxiety? through out the day i get this all the sudden feeling of doom or something. like something bad is gonna happen and it normally happens when im not even thinking about anything. just out of the blue it does. the butterfly feeling. i dont know but im scared to death. i bought some centrum vitamins today those are ok to take with the propanaol right?
Thanks

I am not sure. You can always call your pharmacy, they would be able to help you out. I am sure you will be just fine...Has the rining stopped yet. Like I said before, I think it is a bit of anxiety, but I hate to say that because Doc's always assume that with us women. I hope you feel better soon.
Thanks

Hi.. I stumbled across your thread and will put in my two cents, which may or may not make sense or help...I had similar things happen to me in my early 50's, except for the crazy pulse rates ( I had lots of PVCs however)...with me it was like a bad drug trip.
Long story short, I have determined that malt barley flour, extract or whatever, which is found in almost every kind of commercial baked product was giving me this crazy kind of feelings. The Docs think I am nuts, and there were times when I almost agreed, but if I am careful and definately do not eat anything with malt in it I am fine...once in a while I will slip up and pig out on some baked goods at a party for instance and the old symptoms return...now, however, I do not panic, thereby making it worse, I just take it easy, drink lots of water and soon (day or two) I am back to "normal." As I said may not have the slightest connection to your problems but might be something to think about..unless you have heart problems in the family, you are too young for such things...
Good luck

Worried,
It's a middle ear thingy...either inflammation, infection or the remains of one of them leaving fluid in your middle ear. The dizziness is the effect of the inflammation in you INNER ear, the stufffiness and inability to hear right by the clogged MIDDLE ear.
If you have any decongestant, take it and take hot steamy showers (to loosen the goo.) A steam room is A-1 treatment.
For any dizziness, meclizine works well. It's available OTC as the non-drowsy formulation of Dramamine. A diuretic helps also by lowering the pressure in your semicircular canals (inner ear.)

Hi Worried. You sound so much like me. I think you may have posted on another post that I post on about lightheadedness and headaches. For me the lightheadedness started first. Everything went downhill after that. I also have sinus tachycardia (fast pulse rate) and no one can find out why. I have had a full cardiac workup and tons of tests and they all came back normal. I am on a beta blocker now (bisoprolol 5mg) and my heart rate usually stays between 60 and 80 unless I am doing something. It has allowed me to stop worrying about it, which I think helps also. My cardiologist recommended that I see a therapist, which I did, and she thinks that I do have anxiety, but it is caused by these other issues, rather than causing my issues. I don't know what to think any more. My cardiologist is the only doctor I have that doesn't think I am a total nut, but he can only help me so much. I think I know what is causing my lightheadedness, but no one wants to listen. That, I think, is what is causing anxiety for me.
Keep taking your propranolol and try not to worry about it so much. If the doctors have told you that your heart is ok, then it most likely is. That is what I finally had to believe. I do feel better about it now.
Sorry I couldn't help much, but I wanted to let you know you are not the only person out there that feels this way.
