Hi everyone I haven't been on in a while but we just went through our 4th transfer, this time it caught but I miscarried. I had a question and I hope someone can help! I was diagnosed with pre-mature ovarian failure at 17yrs of age which means I am menopausal. I am 26 yrs old, I was wondering once you are pregnant do you need estrogen to keep the pregnancy going until the placenta has formed?

When I got pregnant they took me off my estrogen which is normal I guess but I thought you needed estrogen in your body along with the progesterone. I had progesterone inserts I had to take but no estrogen? Please help if you have any answers!

Thank you

I am under the same impression as you. I believe that it's progestrone though that you need, but you have to take estrogen along with it. From what I have read, the placenta starts developing all the hormones you need at week 12. I had really low progestrone and estrogen so my RE has me on injections and pills. If your levels are nomal I don't know what the normal procedure is, but if your menopausal I would think that you do need the medicines. You should really talk to your dr. about your concerns and find out exactly why he doesn't want you on them. It's your body and you have every right to know what he's doing and why.
