I go to cosmetology school and I'm working out on the clinic floor. The othe day this woman came in. We normally check the scalp for abrasions, scabs, lice, etc. I saw some scabs and asked her about it. She said that it might be this skin condition that starts with a P and I can't even spell it...haha, anways, I was cutting her hair and I came to a part where I saw one of the scabs was bleeding. I went and got a tissue and dabbed the blood off and threw the tissue away and continue to cut and to make sure I didn't touch the blood or the area.

But I don't remember if I touched the blood on the tissue when I went to wrap it up and throw it away. Is that really a risk for getting hiv/aids if she even had it?

in order for this to be an issue, she would have to be HIV+ and you would have had to provide an access route into your body. HIV is not absorded through the skin. Personally, I can't see the risk in the situation you described. chris
