How effective is a decline bench press? I don't feel I get anything out of it. I have heard it's not so great and I am strating to believe it. What other exercises are good for the chest that I can perform with a bench/barbell aside from the flat and incline bench presses?

lol, who is telling you its not good, your buddies at the gym? lol. It is a great exercise to do after flat bench and incline. However I used to lift so heavy that when i got to decline i was burnt. So I would just use the decline hammer strenght machine or maybe just go with decline flys. Or do it light.

But i assure you it is not worthless! It really shapes your chest. It gets the lower and side part pretty good, I like it! But I felt the same as you before. Patience buddy, all good things come to those who wait. Make sure your eating your bodyweight in protein to really pack on the size, and if your not at least 2/3 of your weight. DRINK plenty of water to flush out your system as well.

I'm no expert, but I believe an alternative to decline bench press is tricep dips as they get the lower chest area as well as triceps so maybe if you'd rather do those.....
