Is anyone here afraid of uncomfortable silences. When I'm in someone elses company I'm always anxious about having nothing to say, and I worry that the person will think I dont like them. My friend sometimes asks me why I am so quiet and sad, but the truth is I am the strong silent type, but I do get talkative moments.

Heh, sounds exactly like me !

It's not so much the fear of being around and with people, new or acquaintances ...
but I get extremly nervous and anxious when I have nothing to say.
Or when I was in a conversation, all of a sudden, there's this embarrasing silence. To keep it going, I sometimes ask questions that really don't interest me...and I have a feeling sometimes it just has something to do with
being with/around people that I have nothing in common with.

It's quite possible, isn't it ?

I Do have talkative moments too. But when the end comes....I just want to dissappear, LOL!

Oh how wonderful. I am invited to a get-together tonight with people from church.

They are all sweet people, but alot older than me. I like them...but I'm scared I'll be just sitting there again bored to death and with not much important things to say.

*sigh* :rolleyes:

You are not alone !!

{sorry for the long post ! But hey..at least I had something to say !! ;) }

Yeah I suppose it's a lot to do with having not much in common with someone.
