Years ago, I used to take the supplement yohimbe because I read how it could give you a 'kick'. When I bought a bottle I'd usually take a slightly lower dose than recommended. I stopped using it altogether in '00 when a doctor told me it was not good (used it from time to time between 96 and 00).
My concern is, at the time, I do not recall any serious warnings on the labels of the bottle regarding taking yohimbe with products such as cheese. The instructions usually said to take it with food. There is no doubt during the years I used to eat foods with cheese and take the yohimbe (thinking I was following the instructions). Now I read that the product should not be taken with cheese, wine, chocolate etc.
Today, I have hypertension (it does run in my family)and and I'm wondering if taking the yohimbe off and on for about 4 years ago could have caused permanent problems? At the time, I never really felt sick when taking the pills, and would have stopped immediately if I did. Mind you, I have not touched that stuff in over 6 years, and so far the info on the web seems to indicate the side effects are temporary (like a rapid rise in blood pressure at the time you take it). Obviously there is no more yohimbe in my system, but I would still like some reaurance, as I would hate to think this would have caused permanent hypertension or other (heart?) problems.
Thanks.
