I am trying to determine if my angina symptoms are due to GERD. I am on Nexium everyday for bad GERD symptoms and I have been on meds for about 15 years. In last few months I've developed angina with I walk that eases up after about 15 minutes if I keep walking despite the discomfort. It is a raw aching that goes up my throat and to my left arm and neck sometimes. I don't get out of breath with it, just experience the aching. I have had an echo stress test at the cardiologist and it was normal, but I didn't have my angina symptoms while on the treadmill. Has anyone experienced this time of chest discomfort with GERD??

I notice when I get active my reflux acts up..., I think my esophagus also tenses/spasms when I start too.. I've also had an echo and nuclear stress test, all fine. I've also had crazy chest pains and pains other places which I think are probably related to reflux irritation. You said you were on the treadmill test? Was that a stress echo or nuclear stress test you had? I had a nuclear stress test that images your heart before and after exercise and it showed no difference, which means no lack of blood or oxygen to my heart (ischemia) which causes heart related angina.

I had a stress echo that was normal, but still not convinced it's not heart related since I have high cholesterol and high blood pressure. I do have bad GERD and when I don't take meds it is intolerable. My angina seems to go down my left arm some and also in my upper throat and jaw. My blood tests showed that I was also somewhat anemic so that could possibly be why heart isn't getting oxygen.
