June 10th marked one year of being smoke free for me!!! :bouncing: I honestly cannot believe that I made it this far. I know that I could relapse at anytime during a moment of weakness, but I'll just continue to take it one day at a time. For those of you who are trying to quit and are finding it terribly difficult, please remember that it's supposed to be hard!!! If you want it bad enough, then you have to dig deep inside of you and find that strength. IT IS THERE!!! You can do it! I smoked at least a pack a day for approx. 13 years and quit cold turkey. Exactly how I did it, I don't have a clue. I grew tired of smelling like a cigarette, I hated the way my home smelled, I hated braving the excruciatingly cold weather or rain just to smoke. I believe a higher power gave me the strength I needed to make it through each day. Do I still want one from time to time? Absolutely! But I refuse, refuse to see all of my hard work go down the drain. Have faith in yourselves, be strong, focus on one day at a time and you will succeed! God bless and the best of luck to all of you!!! :)

Congratulations Sassafras! And Congratulations To Aschatan Too!! That's So Great, Both Of You!! :)

You Are So Right ,sassafras....quitting Is Not An Easy Thing To Do....i Think Some People Expect It To Be Easier, And Then Give Up Too Quickly. It Does Get Easier Tho As Time Goes On. I Have Said And Gave The Same Advice About "dig Deep, You'll Find The Strength!" That I Believe Is So True!!! It *is* There, If You Really Want To Give It Up Badly Enough!!.....but It All Depends On How Strong Your Desire Really Is, Your Determination.

I Quit 2.9 Years Ago, After Almost 30 Years Of Smoking That Crap. I Don't Miss It At All Any Longer, And I Swear To You, I Never Crave It Either. I Don't Even Want To Breathe It In If I'm Walking Past A Smoker!

Yes, I Too Believe My "higher Power" Gave Me The Strength And Helped Me Through It Too. In Fact, It Was The First Time, (after At Least 1o Failed Attemps To Quit, [2 Times Succeeded To Quit For Over A Year Too] ) ...it Was The First Time I Also Integrated Prayer Into My Program....so I Know That Helped Me A Lot! : )

Congratulations, Again,..and Keep It Up, Forever!!! :)

Thank You Deda ! Also to You Congrats on being smoke-free for over
2 years !! :bouncing:

I'm not religious...but a friend of mine, who also quit a couple months after me, says that HIS higher power has given him strength.
And the best part of it is ~ he didn't even crave --- not even in the first few days !!!!

Now...that is somethin', huh !

I just relied on some patches...and my strong will, which I thought I'd never have. :D

And when the urge hit...I told myself....NO! :nono: One puff and you're back to 3 packs a day.

Good luck to everyone who's currently trying to quit !!

Thank you, Aschatan!! :)

Great to hear about your friend, too. Whatever works for each of us,...we have to formulate a plan that works for US...we're all so individual in our needs! Prayer was an integral part of my program,..and one which I don't think I would've succeeded without.

Congratulations again! :D
