I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I stopped smoking 5 days ago. It has been really hard but I am determined that I am not going to go through this again. The withdrawl symptoms for me have been horrible but they are getting a little easier day by day. I am no Zyban which I guess is helping. Thanks in advance to all the advice I am sure you all will give. I have already read some other threads and have learned a lot.

Hi,
Congrats on the five days!!! Keep it up!! I'm somewhat in the same boat, I haven't had one in two days and want one so much it's ridiculous. We have to keep going.

yes we do. I was thinking that since we stopped around the same time that maybe we could also support each other. I don't really have any support here at my house so this is all I have. If you would like to do that I could give you my email address and you can email me if you are having problems that day or if I am .

I can completely relate to the withdrawl symptoms, and I haven't even quit for as long as 5 days yet. I'm using the patch which seems to help. Question- is it normal to have headaches and a major problem concentrating at work? About how long does this normally last?

crucialv--

I don't think it's unusual for a person to have headaches and concentration problems when quitting smoking. Are you on the 21 mg patch? Even if you're on the largest patch, it's still quite a reduction in your nicotine....a big adjustment for your body...also, all of those chemicals you're no longer inhaling into your body...quite a shock! Your body will adjust...give it time. (If you're not on 21 mg pathces, maybe you should be)

Good luck......

I agree even though I am not on the patch. I am on day 6 and I am still having some headache problems along with a bit of nausea still a little at night. I think that is because I use to smoke the most in the afternoons and at night. It is getting better so I know that it is getting out of my system.

Also to moderator, sorry for the post earlier. I forgot but I will not do that again. Thanks for the reminder!

i also quit 5 days ago and the withdrawls are horrible. i never knew it would be like this. i am not even craving a cigarette and have discovered that this is more of a mental thing i believe, i am very sad and that is just because i have let go of something that was in my life for 17 years but it is true what you said, it does get better day by day
