View Full Version : Dry Eyes from Zyrtec?

I am on Zyrtec, which although it does work well, seems to have really dried out my eyes. I have always had dry eyes and bad eye allergies, but since I've been on Zyrtec, I've had difficulty wearing contacts, particularly in my right eye.

Not only does it itch and does redness develop, but the contact slips and slides around, and when I take out the contact, it still feels like a hair or something is in my eye. I admittedly have rubbed my eyes too hard in the past, and in fact, have scratched my cornea a few times when I was a teenager in the desert by rubbing itchy eyes too hard. The scratches each healed within a few weeks. My vision is not blurry and does not fade in and out in that eye.

Anyone else experience this? Thanks.

I cant take antihistamines anymore because it causes horrible dryness. This used to dissapear when I stopped them - so maybe discontinuing them for a while may help. If you have dry eyes anyway, these kind of medications will likely make it worse.

Hit there,

what else do you use, to keep your eyes moisturized?
