Hi,
I've been smoking for nearly 10 years, and I'm only 28. A lot of my social life still revolves around going to bars/clubs and a lot of my friends smoke. Does anyone have some ideas about how to be in bars and not smoke when everyone around you is? The only other time I tried to quit, being in bars was my downfall, especially if I had a couple drinks also. I don't want to not hang out with my friends, and it will be something I have to face anyway. Any help or tips would be so appreciated. I started the Nicoderm patch today, so I'm new at this.
Thanks!

Most of us would or had to give up the bar scene for a while, till we were strong enough to handle being around it, if we truly wanted to be smoke free. You usually do have to make sacrifices to give em up for good. It's so worth it tho!
Smelling it and seeing others smoke so up front and close to you makes it just about impossible at first. Might be a few that can do it...but I think it's just too high risk....at least the first 6 months or so. I think that I succeeded in quitting this time around, (after at least 1O quits), as I haven't been to bars in years now, and most of my friends are non smokers. It did make it so much easier.
Good luck....
