Since my endoscopy came back normal and the doctor thinks that I had an ulcer that healed completely, but I still have stomach upset even on 2 PPI/day-should I be asking for further testing? What tests would I ask for?

My Endoscopy came out good. I was able to confirm my GERD with a manometry (which confirmed that my esophogeal sphincter wasn't closing all the way) and a 24 Hr. PH that confirmed I had acid coming up into my esophogus 25-35% of the day. (My symptoms weren't even that bad on the day of the test.) You may want to consider trying these.

I'd like to have those tests done, but stupid Anthem Insurance won't cover them.. I'm exhausting every other possibly for the pain and everything coming back negative... so how cna I convince them that for an EXACT diagnosis, this is what is needed.

Moesciphish,
I would suggest that you file a grievance with the insurance company if your doctor has ordered the tests and the insurance company denied you. If the doctor won't order the tests then find one that will and would back you up when contacted by the insurance company grievance dept.

I'm going to experiment on/off PPI's and with regular/bland diet until my next app't and then if I have symptoms, ask my doctor for another referral to GI for more tests.

Good idea tappe. Thats exactly what I am doing. Your own body will tell you what to do and what not to do. Be guided by your instincts I say. When do you see them next?? Good luck . I will let you know my feedback from my docs as it sounds like we are in similar positions. Are you in UK?
