Hi there! I had been doing okay for the last two weeks and the ultrasound came back negative. However, in the last 5 days or so I have had a setback and now I have that horrible bloated gurgling feeling in my stomach and a ton of pain on my right side and a lot in my back. I am still waiting to hear if they have approved my hida scan request. My husband wants to take me in tomorrow to urgent care because of the pain. I can hardly sleep past 5-6 hours and all of it on my back. I can't lie on either side because it makes me nauseous. What were you feeling like when all this happened to you?

Hello Foodie,
I'm sry to hear your still not feeling so well.
My symptoms were different, my pain & discomforts were mostly on my left side, & mid sternum (where I'm having difficulty now) as I may be suffering a reflux problem. I'm still undergoing tests... Then eventually the pain radiated to the right, & I had much difficulty eating. I also did have that gurgling... Can you eat without having pain after? Sleep was my only escape, but my Dr gave me a sleep aid. I also raised my bed 6 inches to keep the acid flow down.
Something is definitely bothering you, keep up with the tests to find out..my heart goes out to you, it's terrible feeling so bad, & not know why. My first
sonogram didn't show anything wrong, but my second one did (5mos later) Then I had the Nuclear Biliary scan done & it confirmed my GB was in trouble. The Hida Scan should most definitely determine if your GB is the culprit. You want to be sure that's what is.
Good luck, & keep us posted. I'd be happy to answer any questions if I could be of any help for you.

Thanks for getting back to me Sandy! All this mess coincides with getting diagnosed with an underactive thyroid put on new medication for that and instructed to stop taking my Elavil. Well, I have been on Elavil for the treatment of my Fibromyalgia and to aid my sleep. It really helped. Now, I am really suffering. My discomfort and pain increases after I eat somethings like yogurt or milk. Sometimes I can eat and it doesn't increase the pain. I know that the doctors think I am a pain, but six weeks ago I had a relatively normal life.

Hi, there foodie. Your symptoms are very close to what mine were before my GB was removed. Don't give up - my Hidascan was "normal" as far as ejection fracture, but the way my GB spasmed during the procedure and the pain that the CCK caused when they injected me with it, told the doc that it was my GB.
I also suffer from fibromyalgia like you and take Elavil at bedtime. My digestive disorders of reflux, GB trouble and IBS are all part of the FM syndrome. I'm sorry that you have to stop the Elavil for treatment of your thyroid.
Keep us posted on what you find out,
Katie G
P.S. I suffered for almost a year before the doc finally decided to take out my GB. Good luck to you.

I guess I just had a really bad weekend. I stayed in the whole 4 days. I am having a lot of side and back pain even in the lower back area. I guess I am just amazed by the whole medical profession. My pain is really not a concern of theirs. In the meantime, it feels like someone pressed the stop button on my life. I am now waiting to get the hida scan request approved and then who knows when I will actually get the test scheduled. Of course, my doctor is out of the office, again. I just need to remain focused! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

Finally! My hida scan is scheduled on the 10th! I really hope that we can get to some answers. Next will be an abdominal CT scan. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
