Do a Search at the top of the screen and you'll get half-a-dozen threads. lex jude 06-19-2006, 07:02 PM I have marcus gunn in my right eye and I am 25 years old. I can help you with any questions you have :) I suggest you go find a specialist...in fact find two. Some will have different opinions on her diagnosis, and different treatments. I suggest you do get it worked on. If not for cosmetic reasons, for the ability to see better as well. I got an operation on my eye when I was five years old, and I got the "sling" option. They took a ligament from my right leg and hitched my eyelid up. I still have slight movement when I eat, but my eye appears "normal" to those who do not know me. You will get the occasasional ignorant fool who will make fun of me because of it, but that quicky passes after middle school. I still have 20/20 vision, but my depth perception is damaged because my eyes do not work together. It's not noticable....I only found it out when I took some eye test at the doc's office. I know of some great doctors in pennsylvania....that is where I went to get my eye fixed. Since marcus gunn is rare, very few doc's are experienced in operating on it and some will have no clue what they are talking about. That is why I say get a second opinion. Oh, and I just recently had a son, and he is marcus gunn free. So when/if she decides to have children, she can have some hope that her child will not have it :D This is all off the top of my head....ask away :) |
