My legs tend to stiffen straighten out, when I'm laying down, sitting, standing(doesn't matter). Then they kind of feel like they almost shake, then they let go. I am unable to do anything when this happens. It also hurts like, you know what. Is this what everyone refers to as muscles spasms or does anyone experience this? Just so everyone knows I haven't been dx'd. I'm on 2 years of changing neuro's, and other dr's. Think I found one who wants answers as bad as I do, now. Thank God.

Don't give up. What you are describing is one of the many symptoms that I have gone thru over the years. My first flare up was in 1998. It started after I was injured at work by a patient. I first had the heaviness and fatigue with the muscle cramps. My next attack was in 2003. It the same way except that my legs felt like they vibrated. Now it is my right arm, leg cramps/vibrating, heat intolerance, stomach cramps in the left upper quad (they don't know what causes them. every possible test has been done.), and now optic neuritis left eye with major decrease of vision in right eye. I have had smaller flare ups inbetween that didn't last long. Just don't give up. Keep going until you get a dx. Hopefully this new neuro is the one. It took my primary doctors partner to dx me and send me for further testing. I'm not upset with my primary just disappointed. I told him he needed to start listening to his patients more. He said, "Vicky, you have always spoke your mind when it comes to your patients and told me what I should do. I should have done the same thing for you and I am sorry." Not many doctors will admit their mistakes. Most think they are God.
Sorry so long.
Sorry so long.

This was my first symptom,I had been on a almost 2 year search of exclusions of other disorders when DR diagnosed me with primary progressive MS,I have these spasms daily and can be reminded at points,I take zanaflex, baclofen and quinine for these plus pain meds to ease the pain. Before meds it could take 2 hours to regain my strength from these, they were exhausting.physical therapy and daily stretching can help.Don't give up on a search for a cause. You know how you feel,I had seen a total of 11 DRs before my diagnosis.I'm glad you have an eager Neuro.

Keep me posted on how things are going. I have to go to see the optho again tomorrow. More tests. I had a bad night the other night. The leg spasms/vibrations kept me up all night. Today all I want to do is sleep. I did manage to do a little spring cleaning yesterday. Now I am paying for it. Just don't give up.
