I've thrown up bile for 14 days straight with no relief and with no sleep. The doctors thought it was my gallbladder, but after surgery I still had problems, now they say its sever reflux. I will agree with them on that. They've done every test imaginable and reflux was the only thing that came up. The problem that I face now is does this ever go away? The doctors wont admit it but I think it was caused from being on the antibiotic Bactrim DS for two years for my prostate (which cleared up after my gallbladder surgery). But has any one heard of this being a cause of stomach problems? and will it go away now that I'm off of the meds? If not is there any way to get rid of this problem? Any information would be appreciated
Thank you

Hi, Green Sushi. Wow, you sure have been having a terrible time of it, haven't you? I think I posted to you before, but as far as reflux, some people have good luck with PPIs, but if your reflux is caused by a hypotonic LES (like mine), the only thing that will correct it is surgery. You have to have endoscopy done to diagnose reflux, and then esophageal manometry to measure the strength/contractions of the esophagus (and determine if you're a candidate for fundoplication surgery), and a 24 hour pH monitor to measure the amount of reflux.

Good luck to you,
Katie G

By the way could you tell me more about this surgery you mentioned and how is it going to effect my life if I do end up having it done?

Hi, again. Since you're talking about reflux from your duodenum into the stomach, the type of surgery I was talking about is of no use to you. My surgery was to correct reflux from the stomach into the esophagus. I don't have any answers/advice for you regarding the problems you're having now, since I didn't realize where your reflux was occuring.

Sorry ~
