skeetersquirt 06-13-2006, 10:53 PM Just curious....I feel like all my DS does is EAT! I feed him every 3-4 hours but he is growing like a weed. I was interested to see how he compared to other babies.
He is 12 weeks old and weighs 17 pounds.
roxyfoxy 06-14-2006, 12:08 AM I thought my baby was big. He's now 7 months and was 19lbs 2 wks ago. Don't worry, the weight gain will slow down. Babies grow like weeds. I was so afraid of how big DS would be at this time, but after gaining quickly the first 4 months, things have slowed a bit.
How long is your baby? The most important thing is that his measurements are proportioned.
weepyone 06-14-2006, 01:53 AM skeeter was he a big birth weight? they should roughly double birth weight in first 3 months. sam is 14 weeks 14.6 last week, and was 6.15 born. i feed ds approx every 4 hours and he takes between 5 and 6 ounces of formula he does not have feeds in the middle of the night so it works out to 5 bottles a day. all babies are different sizes sometimes comparing to others is not a good thing i bet your little one is thriving right? well i am sure things are perfect :)
expectant 06-14-2006, 02:29 AM a-iden is 9 weeks and 2 days and weights 13.4 pounds. He is the 90th percentile thing on the weight but he is long aswell for his age. All he does is eat eat eat aswell and someone told me he looked chubby!!! How rude!!!he is meant to be chubby!!!!
expectant 06-14-2006, 02:31 AM ps he was born 8pound 3 :)
roxyfoxy 06-14-2006, 03:29 AM Chubby babies are cuter babies. I have a chubster as well. Looks like the Micheline Man. lol
skeetersquirt 06-14-2006, 08:24 AM He was only 7 pounds 15 when he was born. He lost 10 ounces before we left the hospital and was 7 pounds 5 when he brought him home.
He is in the 97% for his weight and the 95% for his length. Most people were mistaking him for a 3-4 month old at 2 months.
This is why I asked sometime ago about starting cereal earlier. He is hungry every 3 hours on the dot and eats about 8 ounces at a feeding..sometimes it's 2 1/2 hours. He eats for the last time somewhere between 8pm-11pm and then goes all night long. He was eating about 40-45 ounces a day and my lactation consultant said that this is the correct amount for his weight.
Border3899 06-14-2006, 11:10 AM My DS was 5 pounds when he was born and 18 inches long. At his 4 month he was 11 and a half pounds and 25 inches. We go tonight for his 6 month and i'm very curious as to what he weighs. He's very long and skinny just like me.
LadyLaine2 06-14-2006, 11:42 AM My ds is 8 weeks and I just weighed him he is 9 lbs 4 oz. He's pretty short though (Only 21 inches) and starting to get the cute chubber legs.
Skeeter I wouldn't worry, he will loose weight in a few months when he starts to crawl. Babies are suppose to be chubby. You shouldn't worry about your babies weight unless your doctor says something about it.

He is 12 weeks old and weighs 17 pounds.
My baby is 5 months and only 14 lbs!
She eats solids and formula. You must have had a bigger baby? Mine was only 5lbs and 13 oz born.
weepyone 06-14-2006, 12:36 PM skeeter i wouldn't worry about howw old people say your baby looks ds is 14 weeks and 14.10. people say oh isn't he chunky??? no he is average on the 50th centile, people also think he looks older i think because he has a full head of hair. lets face it it is good to see a healthy little chubster than one who looks undernourished. there is a baby at my baby clinic seriously it is that thin you ssee its cheek bones, i think maybe it has been really ill or at least i hope that is the only cause if you get my drift.
baby#2 06-14-2006, 12:45 PM As you can see from the replies here that all babies are different! Don't worry about yours. They always even out once they start getting mobile and walking anyways.
My ds Tanner is 7 weeks tomorrow and weighs approx 13 to 14 lbs. We will have him weighed in a week and a half. When he was 1 month he was at 12 lbs already. Mind you, he was 9lbs 15.8 ozs at birth!
My first was 9lbs 6ozs and by one month was over 11lbs as well. Now he will be two in 2 weeks and he very slight. He's only 24 lbs and still wears size 12 to 18 month stuff. He is very cute and petite! The size of the "infant" doesn't necessarily represent what your child will look like as a toddler or an adult. Also, when people say your baby is chubby, that's usually a compliment! Most people like the bigger babies to hold as well! Just love every ounce of him and keep feeding him when he's hungry!
Have fun with him. :)
P.S. Most people think my ds is about 3 or 4 months old as well as he's not even 2 months yet...
feb06baby 06-14-2006, 03:24 PM My DD Kailey had her 4 month check up a week and a half ago. She was 16lbs and 23 inches long. I was told yesterday at by a stranger that she was a big baby and looked like an 8 month old. She was 7lbs 14 oz at birth....2 oz from being and 8 pounder.
MJCota 06-14-2006, 08:14 PM Gosh my ds is 14 weeks old and around 13ish pounds right now. He also is 24 1/2 inches long. He was 6pds 7oz, 19 1/2 at birth. Hes long and skinny and I still get comments that he looks to "big" to be only three months old. It does bother me bc he is just perfect to me! I think ppl make these comments bc he is so long already. My midwife finally got to see him and all the nurses and her were saying "Boy, he's going to be tall and skinny!" which he doesn't get from me lol!! OR DADDY! (the skinny part heh) But my father is tall and average and alot of my family and dh family is too.
Don't worry about the comments though (I try not to also). Chubby, skinny, semi-chubby ..any baby is adorable!!
muffintop 06-14-2006, 08:43 PM 6 month checkup (1 month ago):
DS weighed in at 18 lb 3 oz (65%)
height of 27 1/4" (80%)
He is our little budda baby - just love his cubby little legs!
Fullfire 06-14-2006, 11:39 PM people tell me all the time I have a chunky monkey.. ok not a chunkey monkey but a chunky baby. lol
Compared to alot of babies my baby's age(5months) she is small.
People have also told me that she looks older than she is as well or she is a big baby. my baby was born with a full head of hair and she still have a full head of hair. I guess that could make her look older.
Once again every baby is different and having a healthy baby is what matters . As long as he or she is is eating well and the doctors says he or she is doing well that is all that matters.
roxyfoxy 06-18-2006, 10:27 PM Everyone says DS is a year old, he's 7 months. Every baby is different. As long as your son is gaining normally, I wouldn't worry.
myloathe 06-18-2006, 10:52 PM Just curious....I feel like all my DS does is EAT! I feed him every 3-4 hours but he is growing like a weed. I was interested to see how he compared to other babies.
He is 12 weeks old and weighs 17 pounds.
My dd is 3 1/2 weeks and 8 pounds.
The only thing that sucks about your situation is that most of the infant car seats are only good until 20 pounds. I'm praying my dd gets at least 1 year in that thing. They're too expensive!
baby#2 06-19-2006, 10:34 AM My ds was weighed last Thursday, exactly 7 weeks and weighs 13lbs 12ozs! Now that's a big baby! I love how chunky he is. More to love! The Doc said that's really good for a b/f baby.
