I am wondering if anyone has noticed any foods that trigger an attack or make their asthma symptoms worse? I've noticed that caffeine has helped make breathing easier, but am unsure if some foods I am eating can worsen the symptoms.

I've also heard that dairy products can make it much worse too. I am pretty sure that foods that have artificial sweeteners (like aspartame) aren't helpful either.

The reason Dairy products such as milk, cheese or anything made from milk asthcan make ma worse is because milk thickens mucus in the body (including the lungs) and makes it more difficult to get out/cough-up. It's not a good idea for anyone who has any type of lung infection or breathing problems to eat/drink anything with milk for this reason.

Caffeine acts as a bronchodilator and opens up the airways.

So I can still have my morning coffee w/ my albuterol (or shortly after)?
The nurse told me not to have any caffiene w/albuterol or levalbuterol because it stresses your heart out too much. I don't feel jittery after an hour or so though so maybe it would be safer to have it an hour or 2 after?

I would agree with the nurse. Best not to put too much strain on the heart. I would wait an hour or so before having coffee.
