View Full Version : strange scenario

this may qualify as being extremely odd...

yesterday, around 6 PM, I noticed a red spot on my shirt, which looked like blood. when I went to the bathroom to wipe it off, i checked my arm all around the area where the stain was. There was no open cut, or broken skin, scab, etc. I was working in a hospital that day, but in administration-not in any patient area where blood contact may occur. I wiped it off and it came right off, so it may have been recent. I don't recall 'brushing up' against anyone or having any kind of physical contact, I just can't understand where this came from. I am assuming it is blood. It may not be, but I wouldn't know what else it could be.
I guess my question is, in the event that it is (infected) blood, is there any chance, whatsoever, of a transmission this way? I realize this is a stretch, but was just wondering.
thanks

No, there is no chance, unless you got some blood spatter in your eyes. The HIV virus needs live cells to survive. As soon as the blood has dried, the virus is dead as well. Here is the website where I found the answer.

thanks for the reply.
I didn't even think of blood splatter in eyes. I highly doubt that happened as I'd see and feel it.
Having infected blood come into contact with intact skin is not considered a risk???

Thanks

Nope! HIV is not absorbed through the skin.
