Hi. I am new here but NOT new to TTC. I have always had EXTREMELY irreagular periods (sometimes 3 to 6 months in between them) I had a period on the 6th of May and my doctor gave me Clomid 50 mg to induce ovulation. I took the pills days 5-9. Throught the cycle I had cramping and sore breast (which I read could be side effects of the Clomid) However, I am now on day 42 of my cycle with no AF in sight. I took a HPT on days 33, 35 and 39 and got a negative.... For the past week I have had EXTREMLY sore nipples and sort of a tingling in them and have been very bloated....Well, I went to the doc. on tuesday of this week and he prescribed PROMETRIUM for me to start taking Sunday. He said if I dont start after my 5 day dose of that he will do a blood test to see if I am preg. What do you guys think. I really feel like I am but then why am I not getting any postives???

Does anyone know anything about Prometrium....I guess I am just confused!

I'm sorry, I don't know anything about it :( I'm sad to hear about your trouble with TTC. I hope you get a BFP from the blood test, and the other tests were just wrong.

Wow. I would think that a BFP would show up by now. The sore breasts are a sign of hormone levels. I'm surprised your doc didn't go ahead and do BPT but what do I know? Prometrium (progesterone) is supposed to help regulate you, I've been told. I haven't had long cycles in many years - I tend to be early so I never took prometrium until now (second IUI - 2ww). I am MOODY as hell, and I feel like AF wants to start (mild cramping), and my breasts are swollen but not terribly sore. I'm in the opposite boat, I guess! I won't do hpt till Monday.

So, take the prometrium and follow your doc. Hormones can be a b**** sometimes.

I have always had the same issues as you have, though there have been times when I have gone longer than a year between periods. I was on clomid for several months and though I felt some of the side effects you are describing, it never really worked for me. I too started on 50 mg. If that doesn't do the trick the doctor will probably try lowering your dose before upping it to see if you respond. If not, don't lose heart. Our problem is easiy treatable and tends to respond to fertility drugs, even though different medications and dosages may need to be tried. I ended up having to be on steriods, a small dose of clomid and on pergonal, but I got pregnant on the first cycle of it! Hang in there!
