Hello all,

I'm new to this forum, but am hoping to find people who may also be struggling with my symptoms. A year ago, my right ear began to itch. I went to my MD and he said the ear canal looked great, but he prescribed floxin to be safe. Itching grew worse and I developed scabbing at the top of my canal from scratching in my sleep. I went to an ENT and he said it looked "fungal." He applied fungal treatment in my ear that stayed for about a week. The ear worsened. A month later, my preauricular lymph node swelled to the size of a golf ball. Ended up going to the emergency room since it was on a weekend. The ER doc put me on Valtrax, stating that it could be some strange virus I couldn't kick on my own. Ended up going to a new ENT and he put me on Zoto-otic, diagnosing my with dermatitis of the right ear. Symptoms never lessened with new medication. Now I am pregnant with an itchy ear, and my preauricular node swells every three-four weeks. I am determined not to take meds while pregnant unless the ear becomes unbearable. Oh, forgot to mention...every doctor has said my ear canal looks very healthy when examined. But every morning I wake up with clear oil oozing out of my ear. It's thin and watery and drives me nuts!!! Anyone have any suggestions? Are there any safe pregnancy herbal remedies I can use in my ear for the time being? I did away with cortisone drops a long time ago. I get little relief from those. I have been treated for bacterial, viral, fungal infections, and dermatitis. I've even had an MRI. So far, no one has figured out this mystery. Help!!

Hello, I don't know if this will help or not but a friend of mine had a similar problem which turned out to be a form of eczema inside the ear. She had it successfully treated by a chinese herbal practitioner. Apparently the herbs tasted vile but did clear it up!

Good luck!

Vicky
