Hello
I wanted to know if the dentist would place a crown on a wisdom tooth
because I only have 3 molars and a wisdom tooth on that side , and there is a large filling in the wisdom tooth, Did anyone ever have that done?
Because the bite has changed so much I feel like there are no teeth there now since this filling
Thanks for you help

You can definitely get a crown on a wisdom tooth. My dentist was going to do one on my wisdom tooth, because I am missing the tooth right before it and the bridge work was going to be attached to the wisdom tooth, which would require a crown on it. There was no reason for my wisdom tooth to be pulled because I am missing the tooth before it, so there is no crowding or anything.

If you already have your 2 premolars and 6 & 12 year molars there, why do you need the wisdom (18 yr molar) tooth? If the filling isn't bothering you, why crown it? Eventually the large filling may give way and the tooth would need a crown, but if you don't really need that tooth, why spend the bucks??
Most good dentists these days are all for taking out the 3rd molars because they cause the necessary molars in front of them alot of problems, like decay or periodontal problems, due to the fact that they are so hard to get way back there to floss.
You should discuss the need for your wisdom tooth with your dentist before crowning it.
