I just went in for my ninth month check up and my son is 24 lbs and 20 inches long. The doc says he looks great :) Even thought he is kinda behind on the crawling thing and he teeters when he sits, the doc isn't too concerned since my boy is huge and he has a lot to hold up and drag around. But instead of crawling, he rolls everywhere, and does this backwards crawl type thing. It's kinda funny.
Alex says a few words now, he knows "dada," he calls me "maaaaa." I take him swimming a lot, and he kicks his legs and splashes his arms liek crazy. He put his face int he water a few times and scared the crap out of me....he just laughed!!! I was thinking...ahhhh NO. :P
He has a nice schedule that is very manageable...well as far as a baby can be :p He wakes at 6am for a morning bottle, then goes back to sleep until 8am. Then I feed him breakfast of half cereal, half fruit. (usually a little bowl full) Then he has a bottle around 10:30, and takes a nap until noon, where he has lunch of a jar of baby food. Then a bottle in the afternoon, anotehr nap, dinner at five (one jar of food) a snack at 7 (half cereal, the other half of the fruit from morning) bath at 8, then the last bottle....and down for the night! The schedule is flexible....like if he stays up later, he'll sleep later and skip the morning nap.
He got his fifth tooth in the other day, and I suspect he is getting another by the way he is biting me :p He still hates the sippy cup. :\ He just smacks it away from me.
That's about it for me...alex is such a joy :) His curly blond hair is getting so long, and he is growing out of everything! I put away some of his smaller clothing the other day and it hurt my heart to do it....there were so many cutie patootie outfits that I didn't want to have to retire....it makes me want another teenie baby again :p
ANyways, I hope to hear from you girls soon!

Hi Lex Jude! Here's my update:
Ava weighed 16 lbs, 3 oz at the 9-Month visit and is 27 inches long. We are still in mostly medium sleepers & onesies. Size 6 mo clothes still fit the best. 9 mo clothes are a littel big yet, but we can make them work if we have to.
I've also taken Ava swimming a few times. She loves it. She stretches with arms & legs out & just wants to back float. When she's not floating, she's splashing. I was really expecting her to be scared or intimidated a little, but she wasn't. I've never got her face in the water yet...but her hair gets wet. I don't think I could handle her being submerged yet either!
No teeth yet. Lots of gummy smiles.
She still refuses to roll over for pleasure. She can scoot around, and just started doing that a couple weeks ago. She can go from sitting to standing if she's got something to pull herself up with. She walks down the length of the couch while holding on.
Got the ok to start whole milk. I'm still breastfeeding, so I'm going to wean slowly since I can. She doesn't love whole milk right now, but she doesn't hate it...so it will be fine with time. I will have her totally weaned before 12 months because I'm tired of bfing! Ped told me she should be primarily fed with table & jar food, and milk/breastmilk is a supplement now. She should only be getting about 20 oz of milk these days.
Introducing a lot of table food...as much as I can without teeth, anyway. It seems to be going well. I haven't starved her yet.
I have more to say, but I need to go. I'll add more later!
********
I'm back...
As for the talking...she really doesn't say any words that mean anything, but she pretty much says all the letters. I find when she gets up in the morning, if I pronounce a letter or sound she will repeat it and stay with that sound for several hours before she starts her normal babble. Example...I'll say ga ga ga ga or too too too...stuff like that, and she'll be into that sound for a while. I guess I'm taking the opportunity to teach her how to say the different sounds so when she starts talking for real...maybe she will have practiced already.
Oh, and Ava drinks from a straw or straight from a cup. She's drinking from a cup for a while now. I started the straw a couple weeks ago. She played around with the sippy for a few months and never figured out to tip it back. I decided it was a pain to fill the sippy and still have to feed it to her like a bottle. I decided if I was going to have to feed her liquids, I'd try letting her drink like normal. It took a few days of practice, but she got it really well. Now I can give her water right out of my own water bottle...or any cup as long as I have a straw with me. Sooooo much easier than packing & toting the sippy.
She will not drink whole milk from the bottle for some reason, but will take it from a cup & straw. She still prefers EBM from the bottle, though. Weird. I guess she's just going with what she knows.
Anyone dealing with separation anxiety? Ava started this a few weeks ago, and it's getting more intense as time goes by. She isn't scared of other people, or of others holding her...but she is very adamant that I be right there within a few feet of her or she cries. When she and I are home alone during the days, she has no problem if I walk out of the room for a minute. When other people are in the house...even if it's just DH...it's different...and I have to be within her sight at all times or she gets upset. I've worked to teach her alone time and be independent for several months now. I'm confident this has been a good thing...but this is the time for separation anxiety...so it's just another phase to get thru I guess.
Those are the highlights.

I think I can just squeak in, Kaden is 9 months old, well I guess until Monday (the 19th), but thought you may want to hear what he is doing so you can see whats to come.
At his 9 month old appointment he weighed 22lbs. His weight gaining has slowed down considerably since he start rolling, crawling, jumping in his jolly jumper and exersaucer and walking along furniture...he must be burning off more calories.
Kaden started army style crawling just before he turned 9 months old and in the last week and a half (about 9 1/2 months old) he started crawling on his hands and knees. He loves to stand and walk along furniture so it isn't often that he practises his crawling anymore.
He loves to have a bath in fact if he hears me in the shower he crawls into the bathroom and pulls himself up onto the tub and cries until I give in and let him come in.
He has 2 bottom teeth but I can see his top 2 teeth are coming very soon, his gums are swollen and you can see the white pressure mark from the teeth underneath.
Kaden says Dad, Mom, and Hi and loves to smile and wave. He also likes to talk on the phone, he just bables and smiles. He started saying "GA!" a few days ago and I don't know if he is trying to say his sisters name (Kierra) or if it's baby talk, but he says it alot like it is a real word.
He is very affectionate too and gives lots of hugs and kisses...he loves to grab a handfull of hair on each side of your face and pull you in for big sloppy kisses, it hurts sometimes but it's heartwarming.
I've been practising his standing skills and he almost seems like he could stand alone...but as soon as he realizes I let go he panics and grabs for me.
He eats alot of table food, as long as its cut finely he will devore anything, he also has baby cereal and jarred foods and breastmilk...he refuses to drink formula or whole milk, he will drink a bit of diluted apple juice but he is a boob man....and Mommy is beginning to wonder how this weaning thing is going to go. (I had planned to wean him over this past month...but now I'm thinking/hoping by his first birthday that he'll start drinking whole milk)
Well, thats all I can think of for now. Talk to you soon.

Amy's a bit of a slow developer, but I'm sure she'll catch up with her peers before long.
She weighed 17 lb 9 oz at her 9 month check, which is not that much but we were happy because she moved up from 2% to 50% on the weight chart in her red book which all UK babies are given when they are born. My sister congratulated her on being average!
Amy has only just started crawling, with a few feeble attempts to put her feet on the floor or push against your lap if you hold her up. She stands if I put her in the walker, but otherwise there are no signs of walking yet.
She loves to squeal and blow loud raspberries but hasn't made any distinguishable sounds yet, despite us talking to her all the time.
Amy loves splashing about in the bath but I haven't taking her swimming yet. She's only just managed about a month without a cold, which may be because I have started giving her vitamin supplements to try to ward off infection. Unfortunately, she has not been able to shake off a respiratory problem which started about 6 weeks ago and has to have an inhaler 3 times a day, which she hates with a vengeance. If you give it to her to play with she will chew it, but if you try to get the air chamber/face mask contraption near her face for her to breathe it in, she shakes her head from side to side and screams. I don't really blame her - I tried it myself and it's horrible, a bit like being forced to breathe in hair spray.
She has one bottom tooth and another one on the way and has been very good with the teething. She has hardly made any fuss and has continued to sleep well through the night. We hear her coughing in the night (see above) but it doesn't wake her up. As soon as her first tooth came through I started giving her a baby toothbrush when I clean my teeth. She puts it in her mouth (not necessarily always the brush end!) and is getting really good at learning how to clean her teeth. The only problem is trying to take it away from her as she loves it! This morning she was lying in her cot when I took her toothbrush into her. I don't let her have the toothbrush unless she is sitting up, so I held it out to her and told her to sit up. I didn't expect her to understand, but she did as she was told! I was amazed.
Amy's eating well and enjoying her food. She loves to make a mess while eating half a banana - if anyone has any tips for getting banana stains off bibs or clothes, please let me know! DH is wary of giving her anything that is bigger than a pea to chew, but I'm trying to get him used to the idea that she can chew most things now. She can drink from a sippy cup and last night took her bottle from me at bedtime and fed herself, but normally she is lazy and lets someone else hold it for her if she can con them into it.
I also packed away loads of baby clothes into those vacuum bags recently and got all emotional over them. I even took a pair of teeny weeny socks to my husband and cooed over them. I'm sure her feet were never THAT small!
I'm still looking forward to the day she reaches out to hug and kiss me - at the moment I'm making do with her sucking my arm (!), biting my nose or just letting me kiss her.

well I haven't been to our 9 month check up yet because we are going on vacation this week and I didn't want to risk having a sick (post shots) baby. So when we get back I will know all his info. I know at his 6 mth check up he was around 17 lbs and I believe 28 inches long. So I can't wait to see what he is now. He kills my arms carrying him.
I am amazed at how fast he is picking up on things. I don't remember dd ever being like this. He "escaped" a baby gate the other day. He waves, can say mama like crazy says dada when you put a phone up to him because thats the only person he talks to on the phone. He likes to stand unassisted for short amount of times. Has actually taken a couple of steps before dropping or grabbing onto the nearest object and he has 8 shark like teeth. *OUCH*
He LOVES commercials hehe I have no idea why. He still occasionally wakes at night but you almost can't keep him up past 7 pm. He gets very grumpy. He's gotten good at taking naps recently. Gets a bottle around 6 am then cereal and bottle around 8:30 and a nap then later in the afternoon if I'm lucky he takes another nap. He LOVES water. *scary* He could stay in the bath for as long as I'd let him. There's so much more but I could write a book so I'll stop. hehe
