I AM A 33 YEAR OLD FEMALE AND WAS RECENTLY DIAGNOSED WITH HBP...DR PRESCRIBED TARKA 2/240 BUT ONLY HALF A PILL A DAY...THE HIGHEST MY BP WENT BEFORE I GOT ON MEDS WAS 151/94 .....TOO HIGH I THINK BUT NOT SURE...... NOW WITH THIS MED MY READINGS LOOK LIKE THIS 108/67
115/66 112/63. THE PROBLEM IS THAT I AM CONCERNED WITH THE SIDE EFFECTS OF THE DRUG... I FEEL FINE AND AS A MATTER OF FACT I NEVER REALLY FELT SICK EVEN WITH HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE ......I AM 83 POUNDS OVERWEIGHT AND I USED TO SMOKE UNTIL NOW. I HAVE ENTIRELY ELIMINATED CAFFEINE AND JUNK FOOD. I AM WORRIED ABOUT MY LIVER!!! THEY SAY HBP MED MESSES IT UP..QUESTION IS AFTER HOW LONG???? DOES ANYONE TAKE TARKA HERE???? WHAT HAS BEEN THE EXP WITH THE DRUG?????? ANY FEEDBACK WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED ....THANX LORENA/TEXAS

Lorena,

Tarka is time-relaease verapamil (calcium channel blocker) and an ACE inhibitor.
It shouldn't give you liver problems. Take it as long as you don't feel any side effects and continue to get good numbers.

Maybe after you drop some more of that weight you can do without any meds.

Congrats on the stopping smoking.
