View Full Version : Tubal Reveral Success Rates

I had my tubes tied after the birth of my second child. She is almost 11 now.
I have been wanting another baby for about 5 years now and I instantly regretted the tubal as soon as it was done.
My husband and I had an argument before I had it done. He wanted me to wait but I didn't want anymore children at the time, or so I thought.
I have regretted every day of my life since I had it done.
Now I wonder what my options are. My insurance doesn't cover tubal reversals and I sure can't come of the tens of thousands of dollars to have the surgery on my own.
What are the success rates of the surgery anyway? If I somehow found a way to have the reversal done what chances do I have of getting pregnant?
I am 32 and in fairly good health. I have a heart murmur mitral valve prolapse, IBS and acid reflux are my only major health problems.

You may want to speak with your doctor because I think you can do IVF because they by pass your tubes with that procedure. They surgically take out the eggs from your ovaries, so you don't need to have your tubes functioning. I am not sure if you have insurance that covers the costs of IVF, but it is something to think about? I don't know any info on reversals, so sorry I can't help in that area. Best of luck to you.

Hi. I don't know too much about tubal reversals, but I do know a woman who got pregnant while her tubes were tied, so I am thinking that the success rate would be pretty good once the reversal was done. Does it really cost tens of thousands? Maybe you could 'shop around' and find a quality facility with reasonable pricing. Like I said, I don't know too much about the procedure, but it is kind of simple, isn't it? Hopefully you will find that it is actually affordable to you. Maybe a personal loan? Just throwing ideas your way. I wish you the best! Good luck!

cmarie has a great idea. It would be worth to weigh the cost of your options: tube reversal and hopefully get pg naturally as I assume you did in the past; or spend the money on IVF which would give you probably the same odds or close to (???) 'normal conditions.'

Hopefully you can receive some hope and insights here that you can take with you when you meet with a doctor about this. Certainly there may be things we haven't heard of since we're not medical professionals.

Good lucK!
~A~
