High cholesterol does not cause diabetes. People with diabetes, however, are already more prone to heart trouble, so a diabetic person needs to keep their cholesterol under tight control by whatever means it takes.

What would make you think you have high cholesterol? There usually are no symptoms, but it can be a familial trait. Is that why you think yours might be high?

Just one thing on high cholesterol(which I have) I was DX with what is called a metabolic problem. It includes high cholesterol, HBP, and diabetes. It is called metabolic syndrome or syndrome X, and the exsist together. I had both then they found the diabetes. So I know it doesn't cause diabetes, but they can coexsist if there is a metabolic problem.
