I have been sick for 9 months. I have recently been treated for acid reflux, although they say this is not the cause of my breathing problems. I have been in and out of the hospital for stridor and spasms. To talk and breathe are a huge effort at times. I have been test and cleared of airborne allergies. The doctors can not figure the cause of my problem. what brings this on, and because of that I end up in the hospital for steriod shots and on predisone. I am light headed and dizzy and have chest pains. I am so tired and i just prefer to write notes than talk. That is very difficult I am a mother of 4. I now take DouNeb. Not much relief but I am not in the hospital.

Please tell me someone can help.

Sounds like asthma to me. If all you are using is duoneb you will be getting the symptoms back as soon as the last steroids wear off. I would sugest you take the on line asthma test (questions) asthma is a clinical diagnosis there is not a test for it. Asthma is treated with inhaled steroids, many asthmatics experience chest pain, there is also vocal cord dysfunction.. the dizzyness is from hyperventilation when people get short of breath their brain says breathe faster...you might want to see a pulmonoligist (lung specialist) most adult asthma is not allergy related.

I have seen 2 pulmonologist and this week I will see my third. I was in the ER last night and the doctor there said I had a severe Bronchial attack. Why is this so hard for the doctors to diagnose? I do have a family history of asthma, however not until these past nine months have I ever felt anything like this. I am frustrated and have seen about 10 specialist and doctors and only one says this is very seriuos and he is my gastroenterologist. What can I say to the doctors so they will listen?

Thank you for your advice I am desperate!!!
