Hi, I just happened to find this board on a quest to find out about my problem. In the last 3 months I have been getting coughs where I just can't stop coughing and I begin to wheeze. About every few seconds I feel like I have to cough and when I try to breathe it sounds wheezy. And when I do cough, it sounds like a bark and hurts my throat. It usually takes about an hour to two hours for my cough to stop. I started taking cough medicine for it and it worked for the first few times then it wouldn't work anymore. I haven't been to the doctor yet, I've been putting it off because I don't like having to go but I can't stand going through it anymore. Recently for a couple of weeks I had a problem with a congested nose, sneezing and itchy eyes and took Sudafed Sinus Headache medicine for it, which sort of helped but not fully. In the past I've had issues with sinus headaches where it left me with nausea and dizziness. Could my wheezing cough be from having sinus problems? My sister has asthma and uses an inhaler but her asthma seems totally different than my problem so I wasn't sure. Thanks so much for the help!

I kn ow what you mean about not wanting to go to the dr. But I would definitly go to the dr. You may just have a sinus infection or a bad cold. cough can be caused by many things. post nasal drip and asthma are among the top 3. and a bad cold or infection can cause asthma to develop.

Hi, the symptoms that you are demonstrating could be signs of a sinus infection, lung infection, or the begining stage of of asthma that was brought on by a cold. If your sister has it, then you might have it too. Asthma is an inherited disease can be treated to help keep you stable. Hope all goes well and its not asthma. feel better,
