Okay, I'm really freaking out here. Starting about an hour ago, I have had bad cramps only on one side. They are not like PMS cramping and I don't usually get those anyway. Just to reiterate, my transfer was Thursday and my BETA is Saturday...and I don't have an appointment until then. Should I call my doctor about this? I just want to cry...I really don't think this is a good sign!!!! Does anyone have stories that could give me any hope here? If it's only on one side, maybe one of my 2 embies are still okay?? Any thoughts??

Don't want to discourage your thoughts in anyway, but I also had bad cramps on my left side. Two times I was getting out of bed I just had to bend over it hurt so bad....they weren't able to retrieve any eggs from my left ovary so I thought it was just that. If you are that worried call your doctor and ask them. They could probably calm your nerves.

Krissi-
I TOTALLY freaked out during my 2ww - since the IUI - with cramping off and on. The nurse assured me that it's just from the hyperstim of ovaries. That can last up to 14 days post IUI (or post ET, I'm sure). I'm finally feeling fine now. I'm still waiting on my Beta level, but I want you to hang in there!!!! Drink lots of water and take Tylenol if you need to (to alleviate the pain so you don't think about it!!).

hugs,

Krissi,
I don't want to worry you either, but severe pain on one side could be a sign of an ectopic pregnancy - it is definitely worth calling your dr. I don't know what the chances are of having an ectopic with an IUI, but I do think it is possible. Hopefully Just A is right and it is natural and nothing to worry about, but it can't hurt to at least call. I'm really pulling for you & hoping that with the great numbers you had everything will work out just fine!!
I hope you feel better really soon.

She did not stim this time because she did a frozen embryo transfer (for in-vitro) so she should not be feeling these cramps from over stimulating.

km- I would definitely call your doctor just to ease your mind! It could be so many things-not necessarily bad things either. I am not sure how common ectopics are with IVF, I thought that it doesn't happen often, but I could be wrong. I just think it would ease your mind if you spoke with your doctor! Please try to relax because stress doesn't help anything. You and your little ones are in my thoughts. Please keep us posted.

Krissi, I just realized something - it is WAY too early for the abdominal pains to be caused by an eptopic pregnancy...you wouldn't feel those pains until around the 7th week (and you are still in your 2ww). SO SORRY FOR THE BAD ADVICE!!! I hope I didn't cause you any unecessary stress - as soon as I realized my mistake I ran to my computer   Anyway, I don't know what could be causing them, and I agree with the other ladies that you ought to at least call your dr to see if they can ease your fears. In any event, try not to stress out too much (easier said than done) & I will try not to give anymore bad advice :D
Hang in there

Holly-
Just wanted to let you know that doctors can diagnose an ectopic before 7 weeks. When a person experiences sharp abdonminal pains, bleeding, and their hcg levels do not double like they should in a regular pregnancy doctors will look for ectopics. Sometimes, they are not able to see the "sac" before 6 weeks so it makes it hard to varify that it is an ectopic but woman will have the symptoms of an ectopic. I know this because I had had a pregnancy that ended in miscarriage and I had those similar symptoms, especially the sharp pain on one side and the doctors think it could have been an ectopic but couldn't be positive because there was no visible sac at the time of the ultrasound(could have already passed the tissue with the bleeding?) Just wanted to share that info with you:)

I agree the km should not stress and just contact her doctor and see what they say!

CMarie, you are definitely right - ectopics can be diagnosed before 7 weeks by checking HSG levels & the likes. I don't believe the pain would be there much sooner than that, but I have definitely been wrong before! ;) I had an ectopic pregnancy myself in 2002, and the pain didn't start until the 8th week - but everybody is different. The dr's were stumped for a few days, but I kept after them because the pain was unbearable. By checking the HSG levels, they were able to determine the problem (2 US's and 1 transvaginal showed nothing). Anyway, I just wanted to assure Krissi that the pain she is experiencing is most likely not from an ectopic & I wanted to make sure that I didn't cause her any additional stress. I'm sure the 2ww is causing her enough stress as it is! Thanks for clarifying.

Krissi, as you can see we are all pulling for you!! :p

Hi sweetie. I hope that by the time you read this you've spoken to your doctor to ease your mind. You must be stressed out. I wouldn't hesitate to call your clinic and ask to speak to the doctor -- you've paid a lot of money for this procedure and you should be able to contact your doctor whenever you need her. I hope she tells you that this is normal. In the mean time, think positive and don't push yourself -- take it easy. Maybe your little embies just need you to get lots of rest so they can find good spots to settle in.

Hi ladies and thanks! I did call my clinic and the nurse said that it is common, even if I was pregnant. And it did finally subside when I laid down for a bit yesterday. Today, I just feel a little sore in that area. I'm not sure what to think but today, all the stress of the 2ww was the farthest thing on my mind. I have graduating 5th graders and they were not very nice today~writing inappropriate things in each other's yearbooks!! Well, I was glad though when the nurse asked me if I had any bleeding, fever, or other symptoms and I thankfully said, "no." So, I guess we'll see.

That's right. Hang in there. No bleeding? That's great. I haven't had any either. Not even implantation spots (I'm not much of a bleeder anyway). TMI?? sorry...
